Hi,
I really need to find someone willing to donate some time to help our organization get this website together. If any of you are health care people, we're a hep C organization that provides services across the U.S. A very nice person offered to be our webmaster, but where as they were willing to do the job, it was on the condition of their availability, which I didn't mind, until we lost a very important press opportunity all because the site was down when it should have been up. We not only the respect of the newsroom, but may have lost a number of potential people in need of answers.
Now I have this joomla site and joomla skin and no idea of what to do with it. We were suppose to have a register and login, a podcast and video capabilities.
I don't know how time consuming this can be, but if someone could help us out, you'll be doing a big favor for an organization in need.
Our website is http://www.hepcmo.org
I sort of took the skin and placed it on our main page, because we had to have something up.

Re: Nonprofit Health Org in Desperate Need of Help
Hi,
Are you still interested in getting help? I know my way around in Joomla!, and am also working as an IT software engineer in a University Hospital. I'd love to put in some hours, totally free. Maybe first check what exactly needs to be done?

Re: Nonprofit Health Org in Desperate Need of Help
Hi Robin,
Thank you so much!! I am so grateful. Can we maybe talk soon? My office phone number is: 816.442.8089, and you should have my email addy.
I am so looking forward to having a website I can be proud of, and thanks to your generosity, we'll be providing info and resources not just throughout the U.S.,but around the world! We work with the Center for Disease Control and the World Health Organization, so it's important that our presence looks as professional as theirs. Any help you can give will be greatly received.
Here's the test site with the joomla skin on it: http://www.hepcmo.org/test
Talk with you soon,
Johanna

I'll do my best to send you an e-mail today or tomorrow. Phone might be a bit expensive for me as I'm living in Europe

Re: Nonprofit Health Org in Desperate Need of Help
Johanna,
I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but as a person who does volunteer my skills when available, I can say that providing my family with food and housing comes before all volunteering (My experiences range from working for a company that provided software to the NP and NFP sectors to donating my own time and experience to small and medium sized NPs). If someone came to me with a requirement that I must drop anything I was doing in order to immediately deal with an issue pertaining to something I was volunteering for, I would most certainly decline respectfully. IMO it is not realistic or fair to expect anyone to do this.
Where am I going with this? Well, as you know and hopefully everyone else knows, 'Non-Profit' does not mean 'doesn't have any money'. If you have mission-critical requirements, then you need to hire someone. If you keep expecting the level of support from a volunteer that you would from a contracted service, you will continue to be disappointed.
Again, I hope you don't take this the wrong way and I certainly only wish the best for you and your org.
