Why it is so hard to upload extensions?

Post by leei » Mon Mar 03, 2008 10:26 am

I have tried many ways to upload extensions by godaddy.com. Even I have to unzip the file.
The only extension I did successfully uploaded is Joomlafish.

I want to upload AEC payment systems and others. Can someone help?

Hi,

Do you mean to install the extensions? Normally it should be very easy and can it be that it is something with your host godaddy?

When it matter to download the extensions listed in the extensions directory, it shouldn't be any problem. However, some extensions require that you register before you can download them and we have written a note when it's required.

Some of the extensions are commercial and you need to buy them before you are able to download them.

When it's matter AEC payment system, the developer require a paid subscription before you are able to download the latest version. However, you can register yourself for free and download older versions of AEC.

hey LorezoG:
It is not true that a paid membership is required for the latest version. I think I have done that with one version half a year ago, but it is no longer required.

My request is simple. Can someone please help to show step by step to upload AEC Extension, that is all.
I don't need to know how to learn using the Extension.

I know there is a htaccess, I really don't know what it is. Most appreciation. Thanks

Well, I fear that if you want to use it, you will have to learn how to use it, simple as that. Here is a small list of what you have to do:
  1. Download the AEC to your computer (I would recommend the development version 0.12.4.15j
  2. Login to your Joomla Backend
  3. Joomla 1.0 - Go to Installers->Components
  4. Joomla 1.5 - Go to Extensions->Install/Uninstall
  5. Click "Browse" and search out the file on your computer, then "Upload File & Install"
  6. You will see the "Installation done" screen
  7. Go to the "Help" page in the AEC Backend
  8. Take a look at the Quickstart Manual there
  9. Decide for one way of integrating Subscription and Registration of your users
  10. Do what the Manual tells you to (Hacking files, setting switches in the Settings)
  11. If you are on Joomla 1.5, you also need to install an additional plugin
Sorry that it got such a long list, I figured verbosity might help you.

I would refer you to the "help" page in your AEC Backend and to the numerous (solved) topics on this in the globalnerd.org forums.
