news.joomla.org

Just wondering; I have submitted a couple of template news pieces in the joomla site and they were never published. Any idea what's going on? I wasn't aware that they reject entries; especially seeing that I had submitted news for a different website of mine and they were published in the next couple of days or so...
Needless to say: Joomla needs commercial developers almost as much as developers need joomla. Without the great work that we have done to bring Joomla to business' and organizations, Joomla would still be used only for portal purposes (remember PHP Nuke?).

Moved to Sites and Infrastructure as it is more appropriate to ask about news.joomla.org status.

Tone down the paranoia... do you see other commercial news items published? Do you think 'they' are specifically targeting you?

The reason your article will not yet be published is #1 due to time constraints on behalf of the unpaid volunteers who edit and then approve peoples submissions, or #2 the submission may not have either been appropriate or correctly submitted.

BTW if you have time to spare and wish to contribute to the Joomla Community, let us know, we're always in need of extra hands.

People with chips on their shoulders, and ones who feel they have some 'ownership/demand their rights' don't usually fare too well around this open source community. Just a word of warning.

PS, I see you list your location as Canada. If you are near Vancouver, you might like to come along to the Vancouver JoomlaDay on June 14th 2008.

Oh, and one other note. As a commercial developer, I'd have expected to have at least seen an official business number, address or something like that on your website/whois record. Seeing as you are asking us for full disclosure about the way we approve news items, how about some disclosure about who your company really is? Surely this is something many of your clients would also want to know before purchasing from you?

Oh, and lastly, check your PM's as I will be contacting you about and even more serious abuse of the forum rules.

There has been a back-log of news items and if yours was unlucky enough to be one of the ones that just didn't make it (submitted earlier than mid-February) then we apologise.

However, if you have been watching the news recently, you will see that many commercial template items are present. See here:
http://www.joomla.org/content/blogcategory/30/56/

It's also the moderators call on what get's published daily to ensure a good mix of items is coming in. If only template news is arriving at any one particular time, probably only the best items are selected. Not all items are accepted for various reasons. If you are posting news items too frequently (like more than once a month for the same site) you might also find not all go through so that other people are given a chance.

If you feel you are being consistently knocked back unfairly then by all means make a complaint, but do it the right way. Comparisons to PHP Nuke or other notable on-the-way-out-projects-that-shall-remain-nameless won't help your case. There's also a chance your posting didn't work/submit/whatever. I'll look at putting in an email reply feature when I get the chance.

Thanks Masterchief...Really appreciate your detailed reply.
I guessed you guys were busy...It's just that we just released a new website [mod note: removed self promotion] and really needed the exposure.
