forum.joomla.org :: You cannot make another post

Post by rgautam » Thu Mar 20, 2008 5:10 am

Hello,
i got the following message.
You cannot make another post so soon after your last.
I've open multiple forum question and write reply for them to help others. While submitting i got above mentioned message. Can joomla team allow me to post without displaying such message?

Actually my problem is ::
Internet cost expensive in Nepal so to save my hourly internet time, I open multiple questions at once. After that i disconnect internet and write reply of the questions which are familier to me. Then again i connect internet and submit then reply......

you may say that, if internet is expensive why to help others for free? my answer is i've got help from others and i want to share with the ones who want help...

May be ur trying to post another post in the same thread, Otherwise there wont be a problem. If ur posting another in the same thread use edit instead of new post....hope this would solve the proble.

Hi, thats flood control which is enabled. It prevents spammers from flooding the forum.

Moving the thread from 1.0 General to Site and Infrastructure.

There is only a 20 sec flood limit. I don't see how a regular user could ever find this a problem unless they are posting one-liners, which are against the rules anyway.

Brad,

even in Germany you don't get flatrates when you are a dial-up user. There are many places without broadband and only with broadband you get a flatrate there.

In case you don't have a flatrate you are not only slow, you have to pay time being online as well.

When you have prepared answers on screen 20 seconds are a long time to wait and this wasted time has to be paid afterwards.

OTOH I realized flood control takes public IP as reference. I had trouble with login while using different machines in one LAN. AFAIK there are better ways to take control.

Ever tried to work with different machines in one LAN in this forum? You have never seen multiple users behind one router?

Sadly, due to spammers, we NEED to have a post limit. Even now, man large forums have a 90sec post limit, mainly to allow them time to catch the spammers before they have posted too many messages.
