Hi all,
http://www.pnirs.org has recently been relaunched as a Joomla site. I am more of a developer than a designer so would be happy to hear from people with thoughts on the layout and design. Please note the site is meant to be fluid but to look best at 1024px wide because the vast majority of this sites users (university academics, mostly in the US/Canada/Europe) have large monitors) - there are always exceptions of course!
Components used include:
user-xtd
shoutbox
jobline
userlist-xtd
The site is also integrated with the amember membership script (http://www.amember.com). This is an excellent script with awesome support and integrates well with Joomla. I am especially proud of the fully searchable members only membership directory (which cannot be shown here)!
Comments/thoughts/criticism very welcome.

"Please note the site is meant to be fluid but to look best at 1024px wide because the vast majority of this sites users (university academics, mostly in the US/Canada/Europe) have large monitors) "
I always thought academics where either struggeling to hard or they cry poor... so never can achve the status of larger monitors...
Oh yeah the site looks clean and efficient .. appropriate for a Research Scociety
The login area cold be in the same colum as the images cause it inda hangs off on the right... so your test could use the wide 1024.
