E-mail terror from the forge!

Post by Troll » Thu Jan 19, 2006 2:43 pm

When will the e-mail flood from the forge stop?

For the last week I get 10's of e-mails every day dated from the 15th and 16th about Joomla updates, changes, deletions etc. etc.

Today I have received almost 10 e-mails dated the 15th and 16th just so far today!

I have canceled my monitor of Joomla releases - No change, still gets e-mails!
I have in my user profile on the forge selected to receive no e-mails - No change, still gets e-mails!

I have checked on my server, and there is no cue of old e-mails, these old e-mails from the 15th and 16th etc. is being send to me over and over again!

I want to receive notification for the projects I select to be notified on the forge, but not tens of e-mails every day that are several days old!

I can only say that I liked the "old" Mamboforge much better than this new one, much simpler to use in many ways, and the old forge only send out ONE e-mail when a new release was made. Not an e-mail for every change that is made during a release, like for Joomla

Do I have to block the Joomla domain to stop this flooding of e-mails?

this sounds identical to the problem i've been having but sheds more light on the issue.

my theory is that you have succesfully cancelled monitoring of releases but are receiving delay emails.  more on this here: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,31613.0.html

i personally don't mind being notified of every change.  but i can understand why most people would not.  perhaps a finer grain of control would be better.

I do not see this as a "delayed" e-mail problem!

This morning I had 10 mails from the 15th and 16th, all about Joomla 1.06 and 1.07 changes, deleted etc. etc.
The same as yesterday, and the day before.

3 more mails received after the first 10, so I'm going to block the joomla.org domain on my mailserver for now, and hopefully someone will understand that there is problems with the "forge" solution Joomla has selected and doing something about it, or maybe get something better and easier, like the old Mamboforge!

I think this is because the core dev is doing their job in maintaining the Joomla releases
if you dont want to recieve the notification, perhaps you should unmonitor the Joomla project releases

E-mail terror? Oh my! That sounds very, very bad. Have they found a way to transmit chemical warfare through the gateways and routers to specific IP addresses?

Did I understand you correctly - you have received the same 10 e-mails each day for three days IN A ROW? WE BETTER ALL BLOCK THE DOMAIN!!!

...just kidding, troll...u crack me up! you know, sometimes we just need to walk away from the computer and get a breath of fresh air!

I've flagged this with the SourceForge developers, but we cannot find an issue - and have to guess at this point that you are just subscribed to some active projects ;)

Please respond here if you still have trouble, and I can try to hunt it down for you...
