Whenever I come to this forum in firefox (I don't use IE) my name and password
auto show up in the login and password boxes, but when I click the button to
login or press enter, it does NOT log me in, but gives me another page
where my login and password are again, then I push the login again and it
still doesn't work but brings me to the page to retrieve my password.
The only way I could figure out how to login today was to retype the
exact same password in the top password area again, then it got me here.
Someone needs to change this, it has happened to me for months since
this forum started, and now I am just too irritated and I am sure most
others are too.

Clear your saved passwords in Firefox.
Tools > Options > Privacy > Saved Passwords > Clear
(or View Saved Passwords, and then clear specific password).
Uncheck Remember Passwords and it will no longer auto-fill.
Manually log-in here and select Forever and you should never see the log-in again.

Hi, thanks but the whole point is I want it to auto login and save in the firefox passwords.
If I do your method it only works if I just close the browser and not logout which I don't
want to do as I clear my cache every time I close my browser and only passwords are saved,
not cookies.
I guess there is no way around this now and I have to manually type in the password
every time in my situation.

For security reasons, the password is hashed on your side using JavaScript before it is sent to the server. This means that your password cannot be intercepted by a third-party.
However, this usually causes some password savers to fail. Opera, I know, works. Only some versions/configurations of Internet Explorer seem to work. Firefox/Mozilla do not (there is an open bug on bugzilla for this, last I checked.) However, said browsers that fail should not even try to remember anything.
If you want to disable this, you might try disabling JavaScript. That may change other things too, however. You can also select to always stay logged in, which is also fairly secure - but then you'd have to keep your cookies.
