Project Name Chosen- Discussion
[size=100][size=100]I was trying to put this thread in the announcements, but i couldn´t, only new poll button.
Congratulations. Nice you have choosed one.
As i understood all *mambo* domain users will know the new name thursday, 1 SEPTEMBER at 17h00 tmg. I think this will be mailed to us at that time?
And we will have only ONE hour to register the newnameOURDOMAINS.
Now i only have one question: What about people who work and don´t have internet access at this particulary time? Only one hour?? Why you couldn´t e-mail mambo domain owners with more antecipate time?
I will have to leave my work soon, "only" to register 2 domains
But in the END, FINALLY we have a new NAME, CONGRATULATIONS.

"The new name will be officially announced on Thursday September 1nd, 18:00GMT.
In order to give those of you with existing *mambo and mambo* domains the opportunity to continue with *newname and newname* we will be providing early notification of the new name."
So is the announcement for September 1st? or 2nd?

Re: Project Name Chosen- Discussion
Domain Survey:
Should be September 1st.
At least I hope so
The pre-registration process will commence 17:00GMT Thursday, August 2nd and will last for one hour - at that time A PUBLIC announcement OF OUR NEW NAME will be made, and at that point anyone is free to register whatever domains are available.
Should be September 1st.
At least I hope so

Re: Project Name Chosen- Discussion
Rhuk, you have the same typo on the front page. - Love the timer. Great Idea.

Re: Project Name Chosen- Discussion
We were having some server issues about the same time as the timer went online, so I removed the timer for the ime being. Taking a look at the code now to make sure nothing is amiss.
What typos?

After the name is announced, the rest will follow.
Fixed spelling again. I can't spell either. I need to use this darn Spell Checker.

This also troubles me, as i will not be at home there defenetly - I think some need a bit bigger time window
Arent we all a little joomla?
Re: Project Name Chosen- Discussion
I was thinking about it and the team might want to re-evaluate the time limit here. I'm not saying it should be changed, but you have to admit, there are quite a few *ambo related URLS. I personally would allow 5 days for this. You wouldn't want those that have a *ambo domain to have ought against the time limit.
It's just a thought. Might consider it. Might not.

So, what time is that in the US Eastern/Central time?

Re: Project Name Chosen- Discussion
How about instead of telling them what the new name is so they can grab it just let mambo domain holders purchase the domain with the new name through opensourcematters? 10 bucks a pop or whatever, this way you can keep it secret and there's no 1 hour time factor.

Ah, jeez!
If the Team gave everyone 5 weeks, a couple of months and a handful of hours to sort their act out, there would still be someone who was kayaking in the Himalays and wanted it holding until they got back.
Guys, everyone's been asking for news, news, action... now a line has been drawn and the Team have been community-spirited enough to give a heads-up to concerned parties. Live with it... and make it work for ya! Where there's a will, there's a way!

As i already said one hour isn´t a time limit, is a RUSH. ALL domain registrars will be flooded with new registrations.
I think we are ALL a community, why don´t you give us more hours to do these registrations? Just simply send us (*mambo* domain owners) an e-mail sooner, and all this will run smooth.
...my 0,02 cents

We seriously considered doing this, however the time involved and the potential for mistakes/failures leading to legal ramifications (perhaps), mean't that our legal team advised us to go the way we did. We can only do our best

And by the way, I do not find it funy to pay for this domain a extra to an foreign land bank account and than wait till the transver permission is comming in, to transver name rights back to me, an than pay again to register the name to me.
So I believe, the way the Team choose is really good. It is only the time which is very short for registering domains all around the world. Some might not be even able to reach thiere hoster to get the domain registered in this time.
Arent we all a little joomla?
Re: Project Name Chosen- Discussion
I believe things will be fine. All we need to do is make sure that every one do the registration during the window.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Project Name Chosen- Discussion
I agree with blogmaster2003 ....1 hour is not suffice for alot of people.
If the dev team is not going to register names but instead send the NEWNAME out an hour early they are giving some trust to those who have requested the name earlier.
I assume that there is some sort of ramification for registering a newname* *newname url if it is not yours. What can be done, I am not sure. I honestly hope that people in this someone in the community would not grab (newname)hut.com or (newname)solutions.com as we need to trust one another.
I feel the name should be realeased asap so those needing to secure the domains can do so.

Re: Project Name Chosen- Discussion
Guys,
It takes less than 5 minutes to register a 100 domains. If a domain is THAT important to you, you'll find a way to be available.
If you REALLY cannot make yourself available at the time of the announcement, send me a PM and I'll be happy to register your domain for you. Limited to verifiable current *mambo* domain owners.

I believe that an hour not to be enough to record our domain safetly.
I hope that all the old owners succeed maintaining our domain
WE need to trust one another.
