Nice website.  Can you tell me what do you use for the media section?  For video and mp3?  Thanks.

Very good job with your site!  Can you tell me more about feature called  "Did you miss your activation email?" How this was done? Module? Component? Hack? Please provide as much info as you can!
Thanks!

Daniel,

Hello!  We want to use Joomla for two new web sites for our church.  Do you know of anyone that may be able to help us get started?  We want to use these templates ... http://www.jupaki.mamplates.net/    http://www.yuki.mamplates.net/  and ... change out graphics, pics, etc. ... is it easy to learn ... esp for non-tech people???  Thanks  Dan

The media section is a compromise between Joomla and HTML.  We have just started using Docman to store the weekly sermons.  Before we just listed the sermons using an HTML table.  The files are kept in the public_html directory under the /sermons sub-directory.  And the Sermons list just links them directly to the RM and MP3 files.  (Nothing complicated going on there)  Although my explanation might be a bit confusing.  let me know if I should clarify.

The Video was done using Macromedia Flash.  The original video file (made in either Imovie on a mac or Adobe Premiere on the PC) was imported into flash and published.  Then I uploaded the set of files (FLV, HTML and button sets) to the website directory using FTP (into /files sub-directory in the /public_html/c/ directory) and linked the HTML on the Videos page.

My suggestion to those who have videos and dont have the $$$ to get the flash program is to get all your videos ready, download the trial version of Flash and convert them in a week or two.  :)

That feature appears because that login module is not the default Joomla module, it is the SMF login module.  We use SMF (simplemachines.org) for our forums.  There is a bridge component available for Joomla (try at Joomlahacks.com).  It wasn't easy to install, but it was worth the effort to have our users log in to one location and be able access everything without logging in again.

Thanks Daniel.  So I don't need any extra for the mp3.

Also, are you able to get verse of the day working on your site?  I tried using on my site and it doesn't work.  Thanks.

We have started putting our MP3's and RM into the Docman so we can keep track of hits.  There was a way to check hits through the website log files, but it's much more complicated.  If you check, you can see we really only have a "bandaid" solution for now.  When we get back from Africa we plan to move over the 2006 sermon files over and leave everything (2005 and before) in their place.

As far as Verse of the Day, it worked sometimes and other times I would get wierd errors.  I think it has something to do with Biblegateway updating it's verse of the day.  I found that Proverb of the day worked fine though, so I nixed VOTD and kept POTD.  Which is not optimal, but it's working for now.  There is a component or module (i forgot which) called simpleQuote which reads from a quote file.  I have checked it out and plan to maybe put together a list of quotes and use simpleQuote to read from there, but there's so many other things to do I can't find the time!  I'm praying for some more helping hands, but I don't expect my prayers to be answered anytime soon.  So, until then, we're just focusing on the most crucial and informative things.

I am using POTD also.  I noticed you guys just visit SUNY Binghamton recently.  Our website is for the Chinese Christian Fellowship at SUNY Binghamton.  Here is our URL.
