Launch a "Spread Joomla" Campaign?
Without going into too much detail, please take a minute to visit this site:
http://www.spreadfirefox.com
I'm going to skip reiterating the nuts and bolts of community marketing and just get right to the point.
Could we get a "Spread Joomla" campaign going? A little officially-endorsed community advocacy would fantastic. Perhaps something like this is already in the works, or already complete. (Am I missing something here?) Most of would be willing to put some flashy banner back to Joomla if such a program were started. Just some food for thought...

What is the goal/mission you have in mind. Firefox was created to kick microsoft explorer domination and take the internet back. Joomla the web standard?

Apollo - having a specific goal/mission identified is an excellent idea!
Re: Launch a "Spread Joomla" Campaign?
I think that's a great idea but I do wonder if it might be a bit premature. I think there are a few prerequisites that might need to occur first.
Additioinally, some mission statement about why Joomla. Many of us know lot's of the reasons that you might want to use firefox and they've done an excellent job communicating this fact. Why Joomla? If you go to http://www.cmsmatrix.org/ there are hundreds of CMS systems listed. Why would someone want to use Joomla over the other ones? And in what cases should they not use Joomla. I think the second point is equally important to customers to show intellectual honesty. Joomla can't solve everyone's problems, but it comes close
At this point I think documentation is a high priority and should eliminate a lot of the posts. It's probably also the wrong time to attract a lot of new users when the forum response is intermittent.
- Completion of the user guide by ledzep and team
- resolution of slow server response in Joomla forums and ability to handle more traffic generated by such a campaign

Thanks for your suggestions. We are not ignoring you, but as some of you have stated there are a number of things that need to happen first. Our PR team is wokring hard on promoting Joomla, as are all of you.
One other milestone is: 1.1 Being released
We have plenty of work to do, if you would like to help, please contact the documentation team, as they are always in need of a few extra people.

Re: Launch a "Spread Joomla" Campaign?
We've made a lot of progress recently with the new server upgrades, launching the extensions site and our ever-growing forum userbase. I see these trends (plus moving closer to 1.1 release) as a good sign of really trying to make Joomla ready for prime time. While I'm not sure what the 'right' time is, there are many of us just waiting to create the next level of 'buzz factor' about Joomla. Thank you for the feedback folks.

Here's a follow-up idea perhaps:

I'm sure we could spin something off that model.

Perhaps, Brad, there is room for the community on the PR team, as well? If so, I nominate The Saint! Where is the documentation - pages - blogs - info - membership - of this team?
Thanks so much,
Amy

Re: Launch a "Spread Joomla" Campaign?
Thanks for the kind words Amy. Perhaps we can really fly with something like this once 1.5 is off and running. A major release would be a great reason to launch a "get out the word" effort. Thanks again for the feedback.

Re: Launch a "Spread Joomla" Campaign?
I think you cant compare a browser campaign to a cms.
Why?
Because teh goal of the firefox campaign has been to mobilize all the, pardon me - internet-explorer noobs :-)
So we basicly have a slightly diffrent mass of people -still primary developer as target.
As i see it phpNuke began the cms revolution and mambo stepped later ahead.
Then joomla got founded which added the strong ethic of open source and with the upcoming release a really professionel product.
So the best point to get new user is the product - websites who make people stun .-)
Quality, functionality and custom posibilitys.
So best move rightnow is to keep joomla footer info alive and some meta data.
2 cents.
