music category suggestion

Post by mjaz » Tue Mar 14, 2006 3:04 pm

Before I post my scorchloader extension :
-It's a component to display sheet music. I could post it in Gallery & Media, but it's not really a gallery, nor streaming media. Maybe a music or a midi subcategory could be created?
-It's still in alpha. Is it ok to post it? That might help me find some people to test it later on.

thanks
Mjaz

Wow, what an interesting extension. Too bad it doesn't work with Finale, also. I haven't used Sibelius but know that it continues to gain popularity.

The Extensions Directory attempts to promote only stable releases. We don't have time to install and test every extension that is submitted but you should be aware that if it doesn't work correctly your rating and reviews may be effected.

When you submit your extension, the editors of the directory will consider adding a category to house your project. My immediate thought would be to add a category called Music to the Content & News section since your extension apparently only displays music notation, not plays it back.

Thanks for your reply. I'll wait till it's finished.

The scorch plugin does play the music as well as display it. My component comes with a test file so you can see it in action, or you can check http://www.sibeliusmusic.com for instant gratification.

AFAIK, Finale hasn't got an web-based plugin yet. But they might in the future, and I believe Music Notes Player has something similar. Maybe I should make the component compatible with as many formats as possible, including midi and pdf, thus providing an all-in-one solution. I'd have to change the name  ;)
Does anyone know of other web-based sheet music plugins? Let me know what you think.
