Suggestions for display of donation banner and management of support request.

The donation banner is a welcome addition to the site.  It does not catch the eye, however, and Joomla might benefit from displaying this donation option in a different way.

- Give the donation menu a link in the top bar along with "Main", "News", and the others.  I do not have a good suggestion for how to label it.  You do not want to label it "Support" because that implies it's a help link.  A label of "Donate" is not a terrible choice.

- On the donation content item there should be more description of how Joomla (and all open source projects) depends on user contributions.  Everyone should contribute, and all contributions are welcome.  This is a nice way of saying, "If you don't help out in the development, then at least give us a little money."

- A link to this donation item should be provided along all official Joomla sites.  Maybe you could even go so far as to make a new module available so that anyone can place this link (the officially approved Joomla donation button) on their own site.

i personally think it would be more eye-catching if we leave the support-joomla tag in the right top position rather than in the top or left menu. but i am not sure the effectiveness of that position.

On second thought, I agree with you.  My updated suggestion is then to make the banner larger.  I have attached a partial screenshot showing the top header/graphic of the Joomla website.  The donation banner is far to the right and might look better if it were more horizontal.

Also, I realize that the donation banner would be plenty useful if I would just use it to contribute some money instead of analyzing its utility.  I'm doing my best to contribute, and on a grad student's wage I'm not much for money.

but i think we could just leave that because we need to educate "user that might be willing to donate" to know how to submit their donation. temporarily, this donation is only viable throgh PayPal but i think in the future maybe these guys would include
donation by check or another payment, so what are you so called "analyzing its utility" would be useful by them.

I think that there should be more banner version, in different colors...  the blue banner sometimes looks bad with some sites...
