My vote is for this also.  It has a very good look and feel and could be done on almost anything, hats, t-shirts, it can scale in size.etc.

BEAUTIFUL. MY vote is for this one. THIS is a logo that represents a community.

GREAT work Peek, as always :)

Hi all,

Ok, I got a question when is the deadline for the logo?

I think it should be 2-4 weeks from now, a really great logo takes time and planning, it shouldn’t be rushed.
Also has anyone made a brief for the logo? A brief makes work for us graphic designers a lot easier.

Here are some points to think about:

1. I think we need a mascot, something funny and cute like tux is for Linux. Good for marketing, helps users relate.

2. Think about where the logo will be used and readable it will be.

3. Think how the logo will look big & small (like on the power by button).

4. How will it look in colour/grey scale/black & white?

5. No matter how the logo is used it’s got to be understandable.

6. We got to get this right the first time, it’s a really pain changing logos, eg. Reprinting signs, changing web graphics etc.

7. How will the logo look in the corporate identity? What colours and styles will look with the new logo?

I feel logo design shouldn't be rushed, I just get the feeling that it is.
That’s my 2 cents towards a great logo. My design to come when it’s ready.

Have fun designing ;D

Steve

I believe it would be best to have a finished logo and slogan before October 5th. For Joomla's first appearance at Linux world

Please suggest a logo in this forum. You do not need to be an amazing artist. The idea can be turned into a masterpiece later.

We will make a shortlist of entries for you to decide on.

Brian

I guess casting a "vote" was premature on my part since there is no shortlist.  All I really meant was I like the hand...

This thread is intended as something of a brainstorming session, no?

And I like the idea with "hand" made by peekmambo! It's great :-) !!!

And I attach 2 ideas from my friend graphic designer Anna.

Wow!  I'd been so busy today I didn't even know about the logo thread ubtil one of my members told me about it...  Then I'd whipped up something really quick (and I mean QUICK) because it's already 10:30 pm and I've been working like crazy for almost 14 hours straight already....

I'll post it here - but it pales in comparison to Peek's offering....  Obviously I like what I threw together - but that's what it was - thrown together.

Peeks gets my vote!  :)

BTW - the offering I'm submitting has a "slogan" as well, so I'll answer both threads with this one image....  Hope you like it, but I like Peek's - damn, now I'm jealous!  LOL

I really like peek's design.  It's unique.  The simple font compliments the hand very well.  I don't like the designs where the hand is with the OpenSource symble version of joomla... too busy!  Peek's is great!

Thanks - but it pales in comparison with yours... I hope they choose your offering... I really like it....

But, what can I say for something that took me 10 minutes to toss together like a salad?  :)

I vote this one... very unique and eye catthing.  ::) For me its represent something fresh and out-of-the-box.

Maybe the slogan "Put your creativity on it!" suitable underneath it?  ;D

Maybe a hamster can be its mascot because its cute and it reproduce rapidly.

Nice, jgobiz.

I'm on board with this one, also!
Clear, evocative, and quite professional looking.
Very.....hands on!  ;)

DeGrey wrote:Here is one I have been working on since I saw the new site. Love the color scheme so wanted to stick with the same look. The first one shows the logo by itself. The second shows my guides to show that everything is very specifically placed for a reason (and that I'm anal about good design structure  ;)). The upside down "j" in the orb represents the "!" and the "oo" in the type represents community/infinity.

I LOVE this logo.  looks FANTASTIC

There are a lot of great designers here. I was going to try my hand, but I am definately out-classed by ya'll. This is my favorite. It is not to ying-yang and the infinity in the o's cannot be mistaken for "unity" rings.

BTB, I've seen other posts here promoting the ying/yang and unity ideas. Please keep in mind that some of us have customers that might take offense at some of those symbols. Can we just avoid all religious symbols, please? Thanks!

I'm starting to think that the exclaimation points in the very straight sans-serif fonts make the work joomla very hard to read, it almost looks like "joomlal."
