How's this?
And the svg.

I like this one in combination with the word Joomla! and the slogan!
Peeks logos are good too but I think the logo should be clean an simple.

Re: New Logo!
I believe it's part of the name, like "Yahoo!" As such, its easy to lock onto it as a design element.

Re: New Logo
Seriously? No disrespect to its creator, but this looks like the colors from Microsoft or Google, with some spattered around paint stains that a psycologists client cound mistake for a hand No seriously: I think it has too much MS/Google in it.
I get associations to a childrens TV-show too, it looks kind of childrens fingerpaint. Also; The total lack of symmetry hurts in my eyes and I don´t think it looks good with the otherwise slick and smooth Joomla CMS interface. Especially the foood icon set. Ex-Mambo, now Joomla, already has a style, a feeling and a look. Its clean, simple, easy on the eyes... This logo is just too much.
I am no graphical designer but I work with a bunch of them and they all said the same when I showed this around. They too use Mambo at work and we seem to feel the same way all of us.
The reason why I came out so strong against this logo was that one of the devs seem to favor this, and as we can all see by the response this logo has gotten, their opinion weighs heavy. I would at least think twice before picking me a favourite after just 1 day of logo creations if I was on the dev team.
I will try to make something myself instead of picking on other peoples hard work. That way you can pick back on me too...
The logo is creative and colorful and all that, but I don´t think its working out with the rest of the package.

The hand is my favourite, as it's really much of a brand without explaination. Goes nicely with an Expressing slogan, such as my proposal of Expression Made Easy.

Re: New Logo
the ant i modelled with 300 polygons, so that it for all perspectives would be available, a good recognizing effect for variable designs. the ant stands for diligence and perseverance . the background can be transparency.

Re: New Logo
I can't draw........Just have to say I love so many of the ideas here. What a cool community
the hand idea is the one that I'm most with at the moment. Has anyone tried a version that might have 3 hands - 3 different colours - interlocking. Could be made to be fun and still fit into a corpy environment, seems to fit well with the meaning of the word. As I say I can't draw otherwise I'd knock one up

Re: New Logo
There are some really great ideas already, the best being (IMHO) the simpler, "iconic" images. Too fussy an image and you've got repro problems (as pointed out by others here).
But... is it only me... or does anyone else see Sam the Golden Eagle in this???
Maybe I need more sleep! ;D

Re: New Logo
Can't take the credit for the initial design on this, but I took the hand from a previous post and cleaned it up a bit and added the text. I switched up the colors and got rid of the brown in place for purple. Colors follow the color wheel also. This version will reproduce well in black and white.

This one is good, but I would think of maybe using one color with the glass look. The drk red from the Joomla site maybe, or try a black and white logo. The color is too childish I think.
The design by DreGrey is great too so far. I agree with some of the others that the upside down J just needs to be a ! I don't like to think of it as a upside down J. Makes no sense.
Can't wait to see whatelse is posted.

Re: New Logo
My favorites so far:
Basically a great looking logo...
Very iconic and carrying the meaning of a helping hand
And then my own try inspired by the first but with human figures:
