New Logo

Can't take the credit for the initial design on this, but I took the hand from a previous post and cleaned it up a bit and added the text. I switched up the colors and got rid of the brown in place for purple. Colors follow the color wheel also. This version will reproduce well in black and white.

Now its starting to look like something else How about modifying it so that no fingers overlap either?

I have looked at all of the logos and this is simply the best!

I like this one and the variants, but as another poster said earlier, it would look better if the RED thumb (or claw, or whatever) was not overlapping one of the other "fingers"  There is too much white space in the palm.

The only problem I can see with 6.0 is that the Olympic movement are notoriously protective of their trademarks - you ought to see the bill being put forward at the moment by the UK government in order to comply with the Olympic movements requirements on trademarks for the 2012 games - if it passes then any unlicenced use of the Olympic trademarks will be entirely illegal in the UK.

Yeah peekmambo original design looks realy nice on current templete and i think it would probably look nice on any templete.

As I seem to caused a bit of confusion, I've knocked this up quickly to illustrate exactly what I meant by raising the option of exploring a co-branding agreement with OSI



The hand icon is just in there as an illustrative device, the key thing to note is the two overlapping O's in the Joomla, one the OSI Open Source Logo, the other using pretty much the same blue as used on the OpenSourceMatters site.

Together this gives us three brands working together in one logo - the full logo itself for Joomla plus the OSI logo, identifying Joomla as being a open source platform and the blue O as a nod back to OSM - I'm assuming here that the OSM name will be staying on as a distinct collective identity for the Core Team.

Obviously this type of logo would depend entirely on OSI willingness to licence their trademarked logo for use by Joomla and and conditions they place on its usage but a logo of this type would give a strong brand image to Joomla, promote Joomla as an open source product and promote OSI into the bargain, which would hopefully mean that its wins all round for everyone.

I like it.  Maybe a different color than blue would be more pleasing, but I like just the outline with the different color finger or thumb.  Plus it doesn't look like the thumb (finger, claw, whatever) isn't overlapping.

Those look good SSdesign.  I like it simple.  The last one that has Joombla! in green might look better if you did it in red like the second one.  I know I am getting picky, but the red one looks good, but the multicolored hand thing still gives credit to the original design.

Okay, my thoughts, after going through all 24 pages of this thread without actually reading any of the content. I looked at all of the images only.

What does the word Joomla have to do with a multi-colored chicken? 

So, naturally, I went back and did some reading. The concept is a good one, I believe, but I fear that I will always look at that and think "chicken". Still, excellent work and far better than anything I could have come up with.

Here is what I wish for whatever logo/icon is decided on:

• Please, no flower or variation thereof
• If I never see the color orange again, it will be too soon
• Something that looks professional and still has a sense of 'fun for the whole family'

I don't know... everything posted thus far is waaaaaaay better then anything I could come up with. Kudos to everyone, I say. Keep 'em comin'! 

So what do we call ourselves?
