Someone from the Joomla EXPERT, WRITE A BOOK About WEB DESIGN & complexity

Post by Pedro_Joomla » Fri Mar 24, 2006 6:34 am

Hello Guys:

Im not an expert in programming, I like a lot but Im not a programmer I work in other kind of profession not related to programming.

I would like to challenge one of the expert from the Joomla! Team to write a book about how make alterations to templates  and how play with the structure of the page and look for more flexibility in the design.

I want someone who write a book using all the concepts of Dynamic Page using Joomla! including CSS, HTML and also if  the author want to be the best, write about the complexity in web design between IE6 and Firefox when your are trying to use CSS and not tables.

I bought the book of Hagen Granf and is Very Good. I learn the sufficient from the book about Joomla! but Know I want to have complete control over my design.

Well I hope this suggestion spark in the heart in one of the experts of Joomla! and soon we have a book with a good content of examples and a little of complexity to have a complete control over the web page design using Joomla!

Thanks Guys !!

I am sure many of us would love to, however we are all volunteers, and writing a book is not for the faint-hearted.

Joomla's template system is nothing special, if you know html and css you are good to go. So, basically any css/design book/course etc will help you on the way to template design.

Brad thanks by take your time and give your opinion.

In my opinion if someone as Open Sources developers and expert of Web Design( no matter if him/her is volunteer) is interested on work in a book like my idea is GREAT.

You know how many gaps exist in the head of  many non-programmers/web designers developers in relation with all this new technology?

In my opinion if someone take the time and invest in this type of book, believe me he will be the Pro in teach Web Design/Development using Joomla!

Well again thanks by your time and if someone not related with the team of Joomla is interested in my idea(take it) and go to a publisher's house and Im sure they have all the information related in how start to write the best book of Joomla!.

Hi Eyezberg,

I can't promise you to by the book but I think there is a market for it . Certainly with the new Pattemplate with Joomla 1.1 and further.

Was the latest thing I read concerning that at least?
News on this?

I understand it is fully implemented in 1.1. Only there is backward compatibility with the old template. I don't have any further news on this.
To make the book more desirable you can combine it with Joomla 1.1.

@Joe
The framework for pT is in Joomla 1.1/1.5, but it is not going to be used for the core CMT's yet. The reason for this is simply time of which there never is enough.

Thread title : Someone from the Joomla EXPERT, WRITE A BOOK About WEB DESIGN & complexity

So, why not have the community 'write' the book.

Either through a dedicated forum (which could still be accessed publicly), or using the 3pd component eWriting (which could still be accessed publicly), eventually collated and printed through OSM ;)

Most sections of book would/could expand on the user manual perhaps..
just thowing this out there, and not making any claim that it is viable  :'( 8)

Contributors to be acknowledged in an appendix somewhere....
