I love it! Clear, simple. So many possiblities involving color and abstraction. Would look great as b&w line art even!

Fits to the blood/death color combination ;)

same here, though I would opt for the one where the fingers are bit closer to eachother

Although the three person logo bears some resemblance to Image, i think it's sufficiently different ... of course, there's lots of other three-person logos out there anyway, so it's not exactly the worlds most original thought, but it does express the "all together" meaning of Joomla a lot better than some others under consideration.  I whipped up a copy of it in inkscape to play with resizing, and it looks pretty good ...

It would probably look even better with brighter colors...

My favorite is the hand...hands down.  :D

The only thing I would personally change would be the multi-colored thing.  With the two "o's" in the name and the color scheme, it looks like another new service from google.  And, I would think it would be much cheaper in the long run for branding purposes.

Great work guys.

There have been so many great logos submitted. I still would vote for the Degray one, personally, but there are many that are more than fine. I also really like the African shield, though it could use some work to make sure it's clear it's not a bug.

I see a lot of support and variants on the hand. We also need to think about what could easily be done to the logo if someone decided they didn't like us anymore. How about putting some of the fingers down and turning it into a rude jesture? We would feel really abused if someone did that to our logo (well, I would take it personally, anyway).

Basically, I don't like the hand. Sorry to the designers and those that like it, but that's me.

Thanks,

wr

ok i cant use graphics programs!!  but bear with me and maybe someone could work with the ideas within this...

the image symbolises...

- a house sheltering the project
- a foundation
- the house thing is also the basic module structure - (good for noobs!)
- people gathering around a fire, around joomla! - all together
- each color representing the different skills each person brings to the project
(i took the colors from the website - i like them)

i guess the important thing is the 'gathering around' - the community.

oh i wish i could use graphic programs!

edit:  please click on the first logo to see it at full size and the 'house' around the text.

The hand (or some version of it) is my favorite so far, but here is just an idea.  Maybe someone with better artistic skills can take this and run with it.

i think it would be better not to keep reposting images we like and/or making minor variations on ideas at this stage. let's get ideas out there and then discuss what we like or don't like about the imagery/symbolism/meaning behind the ideas before we try to develop them.

(developing a logo should go through a number of discrete stages, the first of which is brainstorming/doodling/rough sketches/ideas...not minor modifications yet.)

i think the hand is a fine graphic but would be a very bad logo (at least as is). it's possible that it could be refined better for scaling, busy-ness, etc., but let's get some more rough ideas on the table first before we get too far ahead of ourselves.

continuing on this theme - the lines arent meant to be squiggly, i just dont know how to use graphic programs :)

edit: and anyone feel free to tweak the colors so perhaps the font is clearer - and again it looks like you have to click on the attachment to see full size.
