policy for unanswered questions?

Post by livingegg » Sat Apr 15, 2006 3:05 am

Just an idea, but it might be nice to post a sticky somewhere asking people to browse around a little, try and answer at least two questions for every question they post?

Most people posting have no experience with html let alone joomla. If they are asking questions, they most likely are new and cannot answer too awful many questions.

Much of the questions regard template and design, this is something no cms is going to teach a person. You have to understand and learn design. Fundamental questions can be answered by anyone who has experience with Joomla. But most don't spend time answering questions and there is little a person can to do request such. Those who do spend the time answering and helping often go unappreciated in my opinion. Thus all the posts with no answer.

Just my thoughts.

I agree. I think that people who spend a lot of time on boards answering others' questions have a whole different mindset. I think many people see these (or any other) forums as a place that exists solely to provide them with free answers to all their questions, and they tend to demand answers. Its a leecher mentality, I think. A little general awareness of what actually drives these kinds of communites might actually decrease the amount of simple posts going unanswered. But then again, so would doing searches and reading faq's before you ask!
