SEFI, non-profit at Norwegian University

Hi!

Our non-profit organization "SEFI" delivers contact between students attending the faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Bergen and prospective employers.
We're founded and run by students, with support from university.

SEFI offers services and host arrangements that gives employers an opportunity to showcase themselves for the students. We wish to  to supply our students with an understanding of life as an employee and knowledge of career opportunities they have.

SEFI is short for "Samfunnsvitere - En Fot Innenfor", meaning that we want to help our social science-students get "one foot inside"...hence the shoe in our logo  ;)

What we've done:
  • got us some sweet hosting on uni servers
  • Installed template "sb-brutus" and modified it.
  • taken pictures of campus locations for site...no stock photo for us

to do:
  • some kind of calendar to show events...perhaps find some sort of modified gigCall?
  • Idea-bank. We want a sort of lexicon of ideas, for internal use only, where we can look up for instance "debate" and get ideas, experiences from similar earlier events, hints and tricks...and a list of venues, with prices, contact info and stuff.
  • pictures and contact info of board members
  • get the default contact form thingy to work...didn't get it to send anything. had to use static content with an email address instead.
  • banner management.
  • understand how the h*** module placement and stuff work...I want to have banner management stuff put buttons where the Last.fm and Firefox buttons are...today those buttons are placed there by modifiying the index.php with html links.
  • check for browser compability. I know it works in firefox and explorer. I've been told it doesn't work in Safari, but don't have access to any Mac to find out if its true.
  • perhaps get a forum[/l]
    • write more contents, of course...

Feedback, tips and hints are VERY welcome. This is my first ever encounter with Joomla!...I'm in unknown terrain here.
and I need to learn, since I have more sites to set up (a music magazine, the board at our institute and a couple of personal webpages)
