Scheduled Maintenance: PHP Rollback - Joomla Server
Scheduled Maintenance: PHP Rollback - Joomla Server
This is just a quick note to say that our systems administrators will be rolling back the PHP version on the Joomla Server (which hosts the official joomla.org website, forum, help and extensions sites) from PHP 4.4.2 to 4.4.1 at the request of the core team within the next 30 minutes. This is due to some issues with PHP 4.4.2 that affect certain aspects of Joomla.
We do not expect any signifgant downtime to occur as a result of this rollback unless in the unlikely event that the compile fails and we need to start over. You may however notice a few intermittent outages lasting only a couple of seconds each while the web server is restarted during the compile.
Like I said, we do not expect any major outage to occur as a result of this rollback but I wanted to keep everyone in the loop all the same as to what was going on. I will be sure to post an update to this thread once the scheduled maintenance has been completed.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation

This scheduled maintenance has been completed with no noticeable downtime. The Joomla server is now running PHP 4.4.1. Please let us know if you notice any side affects of this rollback.
Thank you again for your patience and understanding

Well there shouldnt have been if everything was done correctly which it clearly was.
What would be ofvmore important interest is knowing what is wrong with 442 so that we are all aware for our own servers etc

One of the core team would be better to answer this, as they are aware of the specific issue which affects Joomla.brian wrote:What would be ofvmore important interest is knowing what is wrong with 442 so that we are all aware for our own servers etc
