It's a good idea for a new logo!!
As joomla! is known as a synonymous of perfect integration, the author having in mind all that, did this geometric shape of the hexagon. So for constructing something like its structure: it will be perfect and without limits (like a honeycomb), solid, light, working, exactly like joomla!
I like very much.

Re: New Logo
I wanted to make a logo that showed "together" and "community", while still communicating "powerful" and "reliable" to the business world.

I really like these logo ideas, but i think this one is my favorite

If you want to know what "coulda", "shoulda", and "woulda" gone wrong, send it my way! I have a natural ability of mucking things up!

I don't mean to be sexual, but is anyone familiar with the term "69"? That's what this logo reminds me of.

Nice work Lannick! I particularly like this one:
It's getting tougher and tougher to pick a single favourite! I still like peek's hand, but I really like this too! It'll be interesting (and fun) to see how this all shakes out!

I'm sorry, but these logos are too Ubuntu-like. No matter now nice they look (and they are very very nice), we cannot afford to have a logo that so closely resembles another. Also, consider scaling. Product logos need to be exceptionally simple to scale well (or at least need to have a scalable abbreviated version). The fine details you have on the continents will be lost if you go any smaller.
I notice that the colors have changed, but there's also kubuntu to consider:
You seem to be a pretty talented vector artist. Try moving in a different direction from this one.

Re: New Logo
Every logo will have some resemblance to other logo’s. Look at the logo for total and BT for example.
I do think we should consult with the boys from (k)ubuntu.
And i'm wondering how the Joomla fonts looks next to the logo. The logo might me to 'thick'

In that there are certain evocative shapes and components that make up all logos, yes, many logos resemble one another; however, Lannick's logos use simliar shapes to convey identical concepts, and this is a big no-no. If Kubuntu/Ubuntu wasn't another free software project, a case could reasonably be made for infringement (depending on the image's copyright holder and motivations, there still could be).
Disregarding that, it would still cause much confusion between the projects.

Re: New Logo
Just threw together a little flash gallery of many of the logos in this thread.
So far, I've got about 100 of them online - If your logo is not shown, please email a copy of it to me at [email protected]. No wider than 600px and in .jpg format.
The gallery is located here: http://www.joomlageek.com/component/opt ... /Itemid,5/
In a day or two, we'll have a "hot-or-not" style voting script up with all the logos submitted. Users will be able to vote (on a 1-5 scale) and comment on each of the logos. Should get some things a bit more organized.
Also, we're beta testing a new news submission component - If you have Joomla related news, please feel free to submit it for consideration using the submit menu option.

Re: New Logo
Hello to all Joomla fanatics out there!
As soon as I saw this comp offered, I loved the idea and jumped at the opportunity.
I actually really liked the font which is currently used, yet I wanted to bring more contrast and
get that O O highlighted a bit with j thrown in. I like to keep logos simple and due to its unique shape the logo will have its own individuality event is resised.
Couple of colour variations there to choose from. Go Joomla go!
does it look like an eye to you a bit?
let me know what you guys think
