closing date must be changed.
On your post, I saw the closing date to be
The closing date for entries will be 2359 GMT Monday 11th September.
There is no Monday 11th.
So is it, Sunday 11th? or Monday the 12th?
So this line needs to be changed as well:
Finalists to be announced and the community vote will commence on 2359 Wednesday 13th September. All forum members will be able to vote once for their favourite logo.
Other dates are correct. Sorry for being anal about dates. haha
Btw, I just realized something. this is the first website I come to when I wake up in the morning. Haha.
Anyways, I'm looking forward to this contest. I might even join in. (maybe......)

oH sorry stingrey, I saw the error and posted without really realizing it was in the wrong forum.
I can see the change in the closing date, but you need to change the wednesday 13th to 14th as well.

Re: Joomla! logo competition launched - Discussion
I've got a logo we can't actually use for Joomla! but that I'd like to share conceptually. Basically, it's a logo with the sort of foreground/background optical illusion, like the vase/face picture:
The logo I use has a bird and a face:
So, my thought was that perhaps one of the very talented folks here might try creating a Joomla! logo that incoporated a couple/few elements in this way, utilizing foreground/background perspective to create the ambiguous optical illusion. To take on such a task is way beyond my capability, both creatively and technically, but I know there are a few folks floating around here who could come up with something amazing.

Only 5 logo's to be on the shortlist?
I don't know if this is the right place to post this.
In the rules for the logo-competition can be read that 5 logo designs will be selected to choose from by the community. But now there are already over 200 logo entry's in this forum.
Is a shortlist of 5 logo's not a little bit short then?

"The Core team will then consider all entries and vote on a group of five finalists."
The Core team will select the final 5

Yes, but only five out of 200+... That's a very short shortlist...

The Core Team will have a VERY difficult time deciding looking at all of these great entries!!

Well, I think the insinuation is that the devteam made the rules, it can break them too. Personally, I'd like to see the Top 5 as interpreted as a whole graphics template by the graphics dev team (say, banner, favicon, b/w icon, t-shirt and mug) with some colour variation. I'm finding it hard to compare some designs because they have such varied presentation. Furthermore, the logos used will be adjusted by the devteam, so why not see what they're going to do with it first? (Aside from it being a lot of work to do 5 proposals.)
Regards,
DC

Re: Only 5 logo's to be on the shortlist?
We have posted the competition rules and we will abide them as stated.
We have no intention of 'changing' any rules now.
A shortlist of 5 will be selected and will be what will be voted upon by the community for the final Logo to be used by Joomla!

Re: Joomla! logo competition launched - Discussion
Divinechaos brings up a good point: Many of the submissions are not standardized and that will cause more difficulty in comparing and picking the final 5. HOWEVER, I do agree that the rules were set for only 5 and that is how it should be. Good luck to everyone
Re: Joomla! logo competition launched - Discussion
Posting the logos in a forum isn't good. We need a gallery for them or something.

Good idea!
I think it is very usefull (and interesting too) to view all the fine logo submission in a gallery.
Maybe a suggestion for the core team ...

Re: Joomla! logo competition launched - Discussion
I may have been mistaken but didn't the rules say that the new logo would be announced at 23:59 GMT 21 September 2005? If that was the case, then why has it not been released yet almost 1 hour and a half later? What happened to following the rules to the letter?

Greg, they are most likely getting the .psd files from the author of the winner and making minor changes. My guess is that it takes a little time to get it all straightened out.

Apologies it was my task to upload the announcement - Shayne had drafted the actual article - but I overslept after staying up till 3-4 am getting 1.0.1 out the door.
I had set my alarm, but my brain obviously couldnt handle only 3 hours sleep and used its veto powers to ignore it.
