DocMan - or some other filesharing extension

Post by washakie » Thu Jun 29, 2006 7:24 am

Folks, Greetings. I'm a Newbie, but I try to be smart nonetheless... sometimes though, it just doesn't work  :'(

I'm trying to find a solution so users can simply add a file (img, pdf, doc, txt, etc) to a post, say for instance when they submit content, they just can upload a file which will be linked to that content item. I've installed DocMan, but I don't understand how to create a front end interface for it? Is it through new menu item>component>docman? If so, I get the php error that's been posted in other places (such as http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,72747.0.html)
(this, after several reinstall attempts). So you see, I have searched the forums for some input on this prior to posting...

I've also tried JoomlaXplorer and the newer version of the same. Again, I'm not clear on how to creat the front end. All I really want is a button, where users can hit it, and they'll get a window requesting them to 'browse' for the file they want to upload, and then it will be linked to their content item...

Thanks for your assistance!
