Joomla Server: Emergency Reboot - Kernel Upgrade

Post by Rochen » Sat Jul 22, 2006 6:55 am

We will be rebooting the server hosting joomla.org is around 10 minutes from the time of this post in order to upgrade the kernel due to a critical security vulnerability. The kernel is the central nerve of the Linux Operating System.

I am sorry for the lack of advance notification about this reboot but it is important that we apply this update as soon as possible. The outage should only be around 5 - 10 minutes at most unless a File System Check (FSCK) needs to be run on boot up.

Thank you for your understanding :)

The server is back up and running as of a few minutes ago and the total downtime was under 5 minutes.

Have a great weekend! :)
