I've just finalised the speakers, hired some extra chairs, organised lunch and set the t-shirts off to be printed.

All I have to do now is to find a venue for drinks and meal on the saturday night for those that were interested.

As soon as I've done that I will email everyone

Slap me with a wet fish

On the Joomla!Day UK Booking form there were two fields for you to enter your comments and what you hoped to get out of the day.

I just realised that I forgot to flip the flag that says store that information. So if you wrote anything I havent recieved it. Oops!

Just post it here if you have anything to say etc

really looking forward to this....I actually live in Leeds but only just noticed the event today, I live in a bubble sometimes. I am a lowlly designer/user but am really looking forward to learning as much as I can. If anyone needs any advice about Leeds nightlife give me a holler - allthough this might be encouraging a thick head for the Sunday morning so maybe not such a good idea. Just for your info Brian (I am sure you are aware anyway) there is a great bar/restaurant just around the corner from Munro House called The Wardrobe.....

I am sure there is no age limit on the Joomla Day, however the local drinking place might know you too well for you to get served ;-)

Good News, Bad News, Better News

Good News
Joomla!Day UK 2006 has been far more successful than I could have ever imagined and nearly 90 people have signed up.

Bad News
The Venue of Munroe House can only take 50 people. So even if we sit on each others laps its just not big enough

Better News
After a lot of phone calls and some serious negotiations I have found and booked a new venue.

NEW VENUE
Golden Lion Hotel
2 Lower Briggate
Leeds
LS1 4AE
http://www.thegoldenlion-leeds.co.uk

Getting There
Travelling By Car

From M1/M62
Follow signs for M621 – Leeds, City Centre. Take junction 3 (City Centre) off the M621 and follow signs Leeds – City Centre. You are now on a one way system follow this for approx 1 mile. Once you pass Cable & Wireless building on your left go in to the far right hand lane.

At the next set of traffic lights follow the road to the right and ASDA house will be on your left. At the next lights turn left and cross Leeds Bridge and turn left. The Hotel is located immediately on your right on this road (Swinegate).

From the A1
Take the A64 York turning off the A1 following signs for Leeds. On the inner ring road flyover turn left signposted M1 and M62 until you reach the City Centre Loop. Follow signs City Centre passing Leeds Parish Church on your left.

The road curves to the left and you will approach traffic lights, follow the road round and at the second set of lights cross over. The Hotel is on your right.

Travelling by Train
From Leeds Train Station

Exit ticket barrier & head for station exit by M & S Food. Once outside the station turn left passing ticket sales office & Tourist Information Centre. At the traffic lights cross the road towards Flares Bar on the Corner. Turn right down the hill. Follow the road to the traffic lights cross the road keeping the Prince of Wales pub on your left hand side. Walk under the rail way bridge passing West Park Interiors, F&M Newsagents, Linley & Simpson Letting Agents & Salts Sandwich bar. The entrance to The Golden Lion hotel is on the left hand side.

REMINDER
The cost of Joomla!Day is £15 payable in cash only and includes lunch. (It does not include drinks but there is a bar)

Saturday Night
If you are in Leeds on Saturday noght and want to meet for drinks and a meal we shall be meeting at the Price of Wales Pub from around 7pm and hopefuly going to the Wokmania restaurant for 8:30

See you in Leeds this weekend

The website will be updated in the next 24 hours with this information

Joomla!Day UK has now finished.

Thanks to all the speakers and everyone that attended that made this a truly great community event. It was great to meet so many people especially thoe that flew in from overseas.

I'm off to bed now (note to self dont do this sort of stuff solo) but will put the presentations online at http://www.joomlatraining.org.uk in the next few days and hopefully will be adding the videos later as well.

Looking forward to seeing you all again at Joomla!Day UK 2007

I attended this event and would like to thank the speakers and especially brian for organising it.  It was a great event - very informative.  I definately think we need more events like today to drive us all forward.

Well done to all those involved.

The preview of v1.5 looks VERY exciting.

Yup was a great day, thanks for all your efforts Brian they are appreciated....thanks to everyone who contributed to the overall enthusiasm and encouragement that was plain for all to see. From developer to lowly graphic designer (me heheheh), all were welcome and there really was something for everyone to take away from the day, allthough I didn't hang around for the birthday cake.........

A really great day. It was nice to put some faces to names...  :D
Still haven't got my breath back after the whistle-stop Porsche tour!  ;) Nice one, Igur!
Didn't even get a sniff of the cake... I think Brian ordered it when he had the smaller venue in mind!  :o
See you all at the next one.
