How can i know what my students are doing in the site?

Post by cecgodoy » Wed Jul 19, 2006 4:55 am

Hi.

I am a teacher, and i would like to create a site using Joomla to use with my students.

I have some questions about the resources that i would be able to use...

Is there a component to follow, record, and show (report) to the teacher, all the actions of the student?

By student
* What did he do?
* How many time he stayed conected? Where?
* Wich polls and quizzes did he answered?
* Wich texts did he read? And commented?
* Wich posts did he read and replied at the fórum?

Who interected with who?

By activitie
* Wich students downloaded some archive? When?
* Wich students accessed some article? When?
* Wich students posted a comment in a certain article?
* Wich students posted a reply in a forum post?
* Wich students answered a poll ou quizz?

This kind of resource could be very useful to a teacher!!!

I dont know how to do this... is it possible?

Does exist this component?

If yes, someone could tell me the link to download?

If no, i sugest the development of that... It would be very, very useful, not only for teachers!

Thanks a lot.

Carlos Eduardo.

Obs: I am sorry about my english...

In other forum, a guy wrote something like "It is possible to write a "big brother" plugin using CB plugin API and Joomla plugin API."

Is it difficult?

Someone could tell me how to start?

Someone could show me the the way to do this?

I am not sure about Joomla's capability to do that, but Moodle does all that and does it well--out of the box. It may be the better solution for what you seem to be seeking.

I use Joomla for the public face and Moodle for the instructional part.

Hi steveoc.

Thank you.

I know Moodle, but i intend to work only with joomla... if i can...

But i would like to know a little more details about how you work with them...

I am just starting to explore these features, and i need to know all about joomla and its ways of use in schools projects.

Could you please show me some demos?

I've been rummaging through the extensions here and I ran into something that might be what you are looking for:

http://extensions.joomla.org/component/ ... Itemid,35/

I haven't tried it myself--but it looks like it may do what you want .
