Website for rugby club?
Not sure this is the right place to look as I don't have a non-profit website yet! But I am hoping to find someone who is willing to design and set up a Joomla site for my rugby club in the UK.
(Mambo has a thread where people can place requests for help with designing and setting up sites, I could not find it here......sorry.)
There is a (small) budget available but obviously, nothing major since we don't actually make any money by being a rugby club.
Please remove this message if it is inappropriate. No offence meant!
Thanks.

Thanks Ryan.
I think I can get my head around how to use Joomla itself. I am just completely confused by Sections, Categories & Content etc. I just need a template and a structure so I can actually see what goes where in the templates

As a rugby fanatic I would love to help. The best starting point might be to read this http://www.compassdesigns.net/tutorials ... ntent.html

Re: Website for rugby club?
Brian,
I the confusion comes from the templates that are included when installing Joomla. There is content visible on the site, the catewgories have the same names as the Sections... but I have no idea what module has been put where and how I can delete what is already there and start fom scratch myself.....
Your link is extremely helpful though. As I mentioned, we have a (small) budget so if you are willing to help in a professional capacity, this may be an idea, after I have ploughed my way through your tips?

A quick tip is to go to http://www.yourdomain.com/index.php?tp=1
This will show you all the module positions in the template

Re: Website for rugby club?
Ha. That is useful.
Now I can deleted all the content/categories that are in my installation and just use this template as a guide.
Can I get back to you if I have not been able to get anythign off the ground in a week?
I still have some questions that I am struggling to answer with regards to static content etc. (e.g. I want a separate section for women, men & juniors and these all need to have their own 'look and feel', news, match reports etc.....)

Hi Dutch Cloggie,
Welcome to the club. I too am building a web site for a Swim Club in Langley Canada. I found these Flash tutorials very helpfull http://www.joomlatutorials.com/
http://www.joomlatribune.com/content/blogsection/5/27/
I found this Website http://www.lertprograms.org using a template called RT_Modbusiness very useful for what I needed. Maybe it can help you.
I too am struggling along I have setup a development on my pc using XAMPP. You can find it here http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html
I use HediSql from to admin the mysql. It is very easy tool to use and it is very visual http://www.heidisql.com/
I one important thing I learned is get your content gathered and typed up first. Then it is easier to put things together.
Let me know how things are working out we can excahange ideas.
Good luck
