Intergration with forum profiles?

Post by TheSaint » Sat Sep 17, 2005 5:15 am

While this is simply an arbitrary observation, it seems that the overall feeling of a strong community has been established due in large part to the friendly nature of these forums. With quick responses and personal photos as avatars among other little touches, needless to say it has become a very popular hangout for some of us. :)

It would fantastic to somehow integrate our forum accounts with the new Forge. In the Forge a project contributor would have links to "Forum posts by this user", "User forum profile" and the like. Similarly, forum profiles could have links to "Developer projects by this user" and so forth.

Any attempt to keep continuity intact would be greatly appreciated. I'm not advocating removing bugs reports/forums within the Forge, but some integration could be quite beneficial. The preceding suggestions have not taken into consideration the logistical impact of such a move, but if possible, I'm confident the SourceForge, Joomla or SMF crews could pool their knowledge and make this come to fruition.

Thank you for your time to hear out these thoughts. Props to SourceForge once again for their most generous donation. We'll make sure to repay you folks in full when the time arises. Keep up the good work. :)

I *like* the idea. The version of SourceForge running the new Forge (Version 4.2 SP1 Hotfix 3 for those of you following this at home...) has a nice API and SDK for such integrations. We've a project going on the site to build modules for Joomla that will provide such integration. I'llmake sure that this is on the (ever growing list).
