Congratulations to the Core team and everyone involved on the launch of Joomla! 1.5, it is looking great.

For those using it already, and Brad has pointed this out already, if you find any bugs please post them on the Q&T 1.5 fourms: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/board,199.0.html

Candy for the eyes...

Post by webzen » Fri Oct 13, 2006 5:40 am

The eye candy in Joomla! 1.5 BETA is a show stopper!

A big round of applause for the developers who code a tight script while keeping the user interface so darn attractive for the end user.

So now, I guess everyone and their dog will be hoping to reach the "Release Candidate" version before X-mas 2006 ; )

Just great what 1.5 offers. I played already many hours with it. No problems so far starting Websites from scratch.
Very productive. Congratulations indeed.

Just wanted to say thanks to the 1.5 (beta) release team. Just installed this puppy and it feels great. It's got that level of familarity and yet taken to a new level. Very slick guys and gals. Lots more work ahead (especially the migration bits) but this is very encouraging. Thanks everyone!!!

Templates is something we are still discussing. There will most likely be more then one template in the final version.

Maybe we should have an open competition to find 5 templates in the following catgeories
1. Portal
2. Brochure
3. Business
4. Accessible
5. Entertainment

About the template issue, I think the good idea is to offer sundry templates in the package. But how to have got it inside... a competition ? or simply from the designer house around joomla ;) I'd like the idea of a competition but I think that We have a widespread web site of design/template about our dear Joomla! and a lot of them are commercial sites, so I think it should be beautiful if everyone of them could offer a templates that suites some parameters written by the "design commitee for new templates in 1.5".

I hope this idea is really interesting...

Moreover if you like I can open a new post for offer a new template working only for 1.5 (incomplete but working), that is, we free open joolers can ofer our templates even without a competition ;) but why not to ask for a commercial template offered for free by not-open joomlers ???

@Newart
I have tested your Virtus 1.5 template and have been playing with its CSS (mostly adding the missing ones). Not ready yet.

@ All
Now, concerning new templates for 1.5, I suggest we wait till the devs are posting some templates with overrides in order to get "full features" templates demonstrating the realJoomla! 1.5 possibilities. (No tables, H tags, etc.)
As far as I understand, milkyway is just a temporary one also.
