Hi,
While this new forge clearly appears superior in so many ways to the older ma-bo forge, there are a few things that are not yet configured for the end user, which existed in the older forge and were really nice and useful to have:
1. list of the latest news items, with ability to see the news items of the last several days, in case you were away and want to catch up.
2. list of the most recently registered projects.
3. list of the most downloaded projects in last month and all time.
4. longer list of the most active projects (not just 5)
For those who like to stay on top and on the bleeding edge of what is being developed and worked on and used, these dashboard lists were great.
Would it be at all possible to get these configured into new forge?

Absolutely. We're working on a number of Joomla modules that will gather these (and other) data from SourceForge and will present them in a new home page that will be based on Joomla.
Project for this work is SourceForge - Joomla modules. I've posted some of the module definitions there + will add more (including the ones you rasied that I have not yet put into the requirements tracker).

Rich people are eccentric. Poor people are strange. I just aspire to be moderately odd.
