Re: Discussion : Logo Winner Annoucement
Congrats to Alan. Well done mate!!!
I would like to add my thanks to everyone involved... and that means the entire community!
The quality and volume of submissions exeeded all expectations... as someone rather artistically challenged I was constantly amazed by the talent that lays hidden just under the surface of our community.
Cheers to all

Jbird didn't win?!!?!? Wow, I'm truly shocked. None the less, Joomla 1 is also an excellent logo and should work quite well for our purposes. Congrats Alan on a job well done!

Yeah! Congratulations Alan, great design (of course I voted for it)!
I will be proud to display this logo on my website(once the final version is released), it is a truly professional design.
To be honest, I like it MORE than the Mambo flower!!!

Re: Discussion : Logo Winner Annoucement
my first impression when i saw this logo is that it looked like a microsoft one... microsoft office 2003 for windows...
see http://office.microsoft.com (upper left).
jbird was my favorite of the 5 finalists.

Re: Discussion : Logo Winner Annoucement
I recommend that we use Alan's fonts for the printed name Joomla as well as his logo. The name Joomla looks better in the fatter width characters that he's used rather than the skinny ones in the 1.0 admin. Congrats, Alan.

Alright, my vote won! Congrats to Alan. The thought behind the design makes it even better, I didnt even notice until now. Congrats once again!
I agree w/ gsbe on the fonts as well. I like 'em.
Only references I see to the Office2K3 logo are the colors.

Re: Discussion : Logo Winner Annoucement
Congratultion ........ to the winner ...... I think it was the best choice ........ Though I must say we must do something about the colours because at first glance it looks a bit like http://office.microsoft.com....

Congratulations Alan! Great choice.
But the developers said the results would become official.
"The vote results will remain confidential for the duration of the vote, they will be published once the winner has been announced."
It would be fun to see how many votes everyone got.
Where is the voting result?

I can't believe it! The ONLY one I didn't like very much won. (apologies to whoever created it but I'm sure you couldn't care less what I think - you won!)
I was soooo convinced jBird was going to win. We're voting like in the United States where we take a recount, right? j/k!
:-)
Well, the majority has spoken, guess there's nothing to do about it now. A lot of people didn't like the name at first and I was all for it, so I guess I don't get everything I want, do I?

Re: Discussion : Logo Winner Annoucement
I dont think there is cause to panic ............. All that needs to be changed are the colors Once the colors are changed nobody will notice that. Everthing else is fine. Its the perfect logo because it very professional looking and has a deep meaning behind it. Wow Jbird MIssed the vote by 2%

Re: Discussion : Logo Winner Annoucement
I'm shocked too. The winner was my third/four selection. I thought JBird is a much more professional and quality logo and don't make me think on some other software.
Congrats to the winner.
Congrats to the winner.
Re: Discussion : Logo Winner Annoucement
Congrats!
A color change is all it needs IMO and it will be on the right track.
Grats again!

Re: Discussion : Logo Winner Annoucement
Well, there goes my over/under for the bet I placed on the JBird in Vegas. Dang. *rips up tickets*
In any case, barring a vote for a new slogan in the near future, I'm happy about the choice, and to see that this whole Joomla branding process is coming to a close. It's been quite a whirlwind of gifs and jpegs. About the MS$Office similarity, I agree: a reexamination of the color scheme would be wise.
Back to the JBird or fish, we certainly couldn't have four primary colored J abstractions running around as oversized plush mascots at the first Joomla Users' World Conference (for example). Having one of the runners-up around in some capacity may not be a bad prospect.

Re: Discussion : Logo Winner Annoucement
In the Joomla! world of organised chaos we will aways get 5 more opinions than there are options which is one of the things I love
Personally I don't mind the MS0/Joomla similarity. I didn't make the connection until it was presented to me and I work with MS Office all day every day. That said... as we mentioned in the announcement there is still a bit of tweaking being done by Alan and Joomla... so best we wait and see what happens there first.
Ultimately I'm just happy we have a Logo and can move onto the next big thing!
Cheers

Well I voted for JBird, the selected logo is very nice, but a strong resemble of Microsoft Office, makes me feel uncomfortable.

Re: Discussion : Logo Winner Annoucement
Congratulations Alan. This was on my shortlist of favourites from the first time I saw it in the New Logo thread before the official launch of the competition.
I personally quite like the current colour scheme but I do understand some peoples concern. If the colours of the logo do need to be changed perhaps use the colours used as backgrounds on the Joomla! web site pages. This would tie everything together nicely. Just a thought.
Well done to the unlucky finalists and to all that entered the competition. The imagination and standard of the designs was very high.

Re: Discussion : Logo Winner Annoucement
Okay...I guess it is time for me to respond. To start off, as for the coincidence of the logo being too similar to the Microsoft office logo...that was done unknowingly and unintentionally. I've have never payed attention to the Microsoft Office logo partly due to the fact that I work on a Mac and not a PC. Do I have Microsoft Office for the Mac? Yes I do, but the logo for the Mac version is different than the PC version.
I will explain the simple reason why it is similar. The way the colors lay out follow the color wheel model. Look below:
Microsoft uses the same idea behind their logo.
At this time I am in the process of making modifications to the logo, as requested by the development team. Do they involve change in the colors. As of this time not yet. I have chosen though to develop different color schemes for the logo because of the concern of the similarity. I will present these color combinations to the development team and the final decision will be theirs.
On another note, I would like to thank everyone who voted for and supported my logo. I never expected to be the one on top. It really came as a shock to me...heck...making the top 5 came as a shock. I think many of us, I being one of them, thought that a certain other logo would fly it's way to the top. I feel it's just as deserving as mine and I think the numbers show it with the race being so close.
Once again...thank you.
