I wouldn't care about colors, though. There are more companies using the same color scheme, just because of the color circle. So don't mind this. Microsoft has lots of copyrights, but surely not on green orange red & blue.

Congratulations!

I agree with Mondspeer, Microsoft doesn't have the rights to normal colors. Lets face it, what would open source become if our only choice are to be the opposite of that existing in the "Microsoft" world?

Bye the way, I didn't see the similar before and I work in a MS based world on daily basis.

Cheers

Well everybody, off to bed I go...it's way past my bedtime. Got the modifications done to the logo and sent some color solutions for the logo to the development team. Don't worry some of the solutions use the same colors for all of those who like those colors as do I...just mixed the order up a bit so it doesn't follow the color wheel and doesn't match up with the MS Office logo. The other solutions were new color combinations. So as for the color, it's in the hands of the development team now. We'll have to wait and see what type of concerns they have about it and what direction they want to take. Once again...thanks to all who supported my logo design.

I had the same first impression, and I think it has more to do with choice of colors.

I really like the thought behind this logo and I am sure that it will grow on me. I like to congratulate the winner and all finalist for their achivements and the comunity for participating.

@urquharttownson: Well done!  Definitely the most community-oriented logo of the bunch.

I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of the other logos either.  There are plenty of other Joomla-oriented websites, modules, components, etc... which could perhaps benefit from a logo... time will tell.

Cheers, Adam. (dStorm)

I voted for the fish only because it was so different but I am very happy with Alan's design.

I think it's a great logo. And as far as the MS Office this is concerned, well I don't give two hoots that the colours are the same. Stick it to MS I say.

I'd say Alan choose those colours for the right reason and it's incidental that the colours resemble the MS logo. It's the meaning behind the logo that's important.

Well done mate.

I hate it. It looks like Microsoftcrap. The fish was better. Well the CMS-name doesn't sound better either... but enough ranting.

Mod note; please remain on-topic! Do not discuss personal opinions that would tunr into flaming. Mentioning a swastica should not be a proble, see here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika. It's even a Holy symbol. And to keep it on topic, do not reply to this either  ;)

I too thought this logo was too close to Microsoft products. Those 4 coulors are known to be used by M$ in most of their products (Win, Office). But, hey, I should have said something earlier and now we have to live with it. Congrats to the winner!
Are the other logos Open Source? If not consider donating the bird to the OpenClipart library.

sorry Rob....be precise....I did not react initially (nor did i flame) on two (2) words and not on the swastika which word and value i personally understand very well. I reacted on the combined" fascist Swastika". I know the difference. That concludes the topic for me, tnx and mzl

great logo... very professional... (colors need a rework, just to avoid any appearance of impropriety.)

what impresses me is the amount of variety, yet how one item emerges and then gets refined over time to produce an incredible logo.

That process... even with detractors and disagreement is exactly what makes open source so great.  And exactly what the like os $iro and $icrosoft will never understand.

No one had to shove something through becasue it was their idea (ahem MS)...  Rather, transparently, with plenty of disagreement and dicussion, "everyone working together!"

No more 60's groovy flower power!

Excellent work.

With the way the popularity of this is growing they just might ;)

I did vote for this too, explains Joomla and provides simplicity through complexity, another important facet.
