How To Get Packages using WGET?

I have been forging thru forum after forum to find out how I can use WGET to grab the latest, or second, or third latest version of Joomla...
I had luck finding a thirdy party site which had 1.0.11 in it's repository, but not 1.0.10, and I'd like to get my hands on 1.0.10..

Unfortunately forge.joomla.com does not lend it's self to the wonderful WGET command in SSH...

I did briefly read a post form a fella who was attempting to use WGET in conjunction with specifying an agent in the WGET command, however he was using Netscape, and I was totally lost... I've never used any advacned features of WGET..

NE help at all would be appreciated... I am behind a HORRIBLY slow connection and CANNOT download and upload the whole Joomla package, I need my dedicated server to download it so I can untar it where I need it because the server's behind a great connection :-)
