Anyone else get a lot of SPAM after registering for these forums?

Hello,

I just found out about Joomla a couple of days ago. Downloaded and installed it and it's great.

As I had some questions I registered for the forums here. BAM, all of a sudden I'm getting bombarded with SPAM. I've deleted at least 300 e-mails out of my inbox just from today.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Nope, I have not myself.  Did you choose to hide your email address or is it open for the public to see and use?  Mine is hidden.

mine's open and come to think of it I did start getting spam when I signed up here.

Just a note, we NEVER use members email addresses for any other purpose than to provide forum notifications.
However registered members who choose to 'show' their email address, allow other registered members to view their email address.

If you ever get SPAMMED via PM, please use the report to moderator function, and if you are able to locate the source of spam emails, please let us know, as we will happily ban any users who take advantage of others in this way.

I must have missed the "make public" setting when I signed up.

I just changed it to NOT make it public. Also for anyone else's information (just in case you didn't know this) I went on to my provider's email settings and set it up so that any e-mail to an address at my domain that's not explicitly defined should be bounced.

Basic stuff I know but I figure if I made the mistake others may too.
