Discuss: Joomla! 1.0.12 Available Now
Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.0.12 Available Now
It would be nice if you guys could notify us earlier. I could have done the right Joomla! tutorials. Any clue when 1.5 will come out. I don't want to make the wrong tutorial again.

Unzip the 1.0.12 zipfile on your desktop, and upload all files on your server (except the /installation and install.php files).
Don't forget to backup your files and your database, if there is a problem ! (normally not)
there is a french manual, here http://www.joomlafacile.com/content/view/105/62/.

missing links at joomla.org
Don't know where to put this: the 'Download Latest Joomla'-module on the main http://www.joomla.org/ -page doesn't link anywhere.
Thanks for the 1.0.12. The great news is indeed that now the whole team can concentrate on 1.5, which will make 1.0.x look like... well, MSDOS or something

What a christmas... moved from Mambo to Joomla about a week ago. Took a while but got the site running and was happy with that. Now I have applied the update and the site still works great.

You didn't make the wrong tutorials. People will be using the 1.0.xx series of Joomla! for quite a while yet. 1.5 is only BETA at this time.
Thanks for the tutorials!

Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.0.12 Available Now
The Joomla website shows the MD5 of Joomla_1.0.12-Stable-Full_Package.zip as febd5b739711028cfb7d4e58b8c5d692.
However, multiple downloads of this zip file still shows the calculated MD5 as: 9189e7a128db2c8ac39762929b191d58.
Any comments about this discrepancy? Thanks.

You are correct, the checksum was wrong because the original zip package had a problem and we had to create a new one. I have updated the md5 checksums page to reflect the current package on the forge. Thanks.

Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.0.12 Available Now
Nice work, just started using joomla a week before xmas, and alrdy an update, that is nice .
However I got a question about the 'latest news' module. Since I am a joomla noob, I could be doing something wrong, but I couldnt figure it out, and in the release notes I saw something about Itemid's, and this is where I have a problem with now.
Basically my problem in short. The 'latest news' module grabs the latest items from the news content, and the blog content of the users. Before the update, clicking one of these links would put the relevant item in the browser window.
However after the update, it only does that for the news items. Clicking the link of a blog item, will put that item below the items of the frontpage.
Is this working as intended? Cause if it is, I am gonna rollback to version 1.0.11 :S
Thanks in advance for your time

Check out the upgrading forum, specifically, this thread here as it discusses the problem that you are noticing and how to change it for 1.0.12 to act like 1.0.11. http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,125365.0.html

Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.0.12 Available Now
Thanks for the quick response. I assume you referred to the 2 lines I had to change in that content.html.php file? I did that, but sadly it still doesnt do what I want it to do.
I am using mamblog, dunno if that is relevant.
The site is http://www.theskyscrapers.nl if you want to check what I mean. The site is in dutch, but I am sure you will recognise the 'latest news' module there in the middle . I restored a backup of 1.0.11 for the mean time, so you cant check this anymore. Got a 2nd site, with joomla on it, that I used to test joomla with, and will toy around with that one.
now if you click one of the 2 top blog entries, or the most bottom one, the news article, you will notice that the behaviour is different.
The news article replaces the frontpage with the article, while the 2 blog items, simply put that item on the bottom of the frontpage.
The latter is a new behaviour I didnt experience before the update to 1.0.12, and I am puzzled why it does not do that for the news article(s).
I hope you understand what I mean.

Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.0.12 Available Now
Could we make a sticky dedicated just to reporting extensions that are problematic after upgrading to 1.0.12?
I searched around a bit and couldn't find a thread that focuses on this. Backing up my files as I am typing this and hopefully I'll get the patch applied today. I'll report back if any of the extensions generate errors after the patch. Fingers crossed.

Most of the few 3pd extensions that have been showing errors are posted about here: http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/board,36.0.html
Once the Extension developers fix/adjust their extensions, I'm sure the mods will sticky threads in there, if they feel necessary.

Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.0.12 Available Now
Hi all ...
I checked the FAQ, and it said to check the Announcements ... and yet I cannot find the instructions anywhere on how to apply the patch from version 1.0.11 to this latest version.
I hate to show off my "newbie-ness" but alas ... we all have to start somewhere ...
I'd appreciate any help you could provide.
(I've downloaded the patch ... but now not sure what to do.)
Embarassed but learning ...

Since upgrading to 1.0.12, the pfd icon on the article pages simply generates a blank page. Does anyone else have this problem?

Works OK here. You may have had a file corrupted when ftp-ing the upgrade.

Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.0.12 Available Now
I have a problem with related_item bot.
I see a same module as the bot at the right position of the page.
There is no such a module. I checked. Maybe it is automaticaly duplicated by the bot.
Please can you help me??

Re: Discuss: Joomla! 1.0.12 Available Now
I probably found a bug.
The popular module uses ItemId=1 for some content (which is not on the frontpage). Switching back to 1.0.11 it uses the correct ItemId again. I have seen not rule behind this behavior.
You may see the problem on my web page
http://holger.euhm.de/cms
And use e.g. the popular entry "Wedding" ...

Sorry. I thought this is about Rev. 1.0.12.
This "bug" is new to this release. But I can post it to another forum as well.
Which one is more suitable?
Thanks Holger
