rebranding question
hi
I've just finished re-branding mosForms (http://mosforms.pollen-8.co.uk) to Fabrik (http://www.fabrikar.com) , and was wondering what the most appropriate way to indicate this in the extensions site? Should I start a new project or rename the existing mosForms project?
many thanks rob

Re: rebranding question
Hi Rob,
Either way will just be fine. But please know that we only allow one listing per extension in JED. If you end up creating another listing in JED, please:
1) remove mosForms listing in JED
2) OR update mosForms' description to direct visitors to the new component and remove the listing after 2-4weeks. This grace period will allow you to inform visitors of the update if they look for mosforms within the grace period.

Re: rebranding question
Thanks Lee
I've decided to make a new entry, and have noted the change on the mosfroms listing entry. I'll remove it in a week or sos time
Cheers
Rob!

Hi Pollen8,
A small question regarding your rebranding.
What does this mean to current users of mosForms when they update to the latetes version of Fabrik? Will there be a conversion tool to take the tables from the old component to put into the new one?

My code never has bugs. It just develops random features.

Re: rebranding question
Hi
You can't upgrade as such, as the components name has changed, however if you install Fabirk there is a migration script - details of how to use it are here:
http://fabrikar.com/index.php?option=co ... &Itemid=11
Cheers

Re: rebranding question
Excellent thanks.
My reason for asking was due to the component name change so I didn't see how this would work without a migration tool. Changing tables is a pain
Thanks again for the link.
Possibly an idea to put this link on the extensions page for people wanting to move over to the new version

Re: rebranding question
I've installed Fabrik, but when I click Components->Fabrik, I have the six usual sub-menu choices and no migration shows. I discovered that it actually is the word "Fabrik" that needs to be clicked to get the page with the migration link.
I wonder if I can now safely uninstall Mosforms 0.4 ?
And finally....what's new a part from the new name?

Re: rebranding question
Hi
Good point, perhaps its not that obvious there, and an "about" button would be more usable.
The release is primarily a bug fixing release, along with a move towards being compatible with Joomla 1.5.
There are extra options for various elements such as the ability to create thumbnails of uploaded images.
RSS feeds can now be generated from the tables as well.
