Forum search weird behaviour
Forum search weird behaviour
Lately when I search the forums, I get an (apparently random) list of topics that don't have the keyword in them. Doing the same search again often returns a completely different set of results. And sometimes I get no results at all, even on keywords that are definitely present.
This happens both using the standard searchbox at the top, and using advanced search.

Re: Forum search weird behaviour
I searched for 'docman'. These are the first three results:
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic ... #msg656642
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic ... #msg651529
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic ... #msg645870
No 'docman' in there...
Searching for 'people', just to make sure:
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic ... #msg652511
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic ... #msg647912
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic ... #msg647912
Same thing. Searching for 'people' the second time: 'Your search query didn't return any matches.'
The third time:
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic ... #msg628618
http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic ... #msg625375
Different post, but still no 'people'.
Maybe there's something wrong with the caching? Something to do with UTF-8? Just guessing here...

Agree. The search results today are quite different than expected. Dont even come close to what you search for...
Thanks for bringing this up mjaz - thought I totally lost my ability to do a simple search

Re: Forum search weird behaviour
Do you search from the mainsite or within an forum?
Using the searchfunction within an forum will only search in that forum, if you want to search the whole forum you must go to the forum root or use the Advanced search.

The "Humor, Fun and Games" forum has more than 2500 Posts, so why not build a "Humor, Fun and Games Working" Group?

I'm glad I'm not alone with this
I just tried all three possibilities (in a forum, in the root, using advanced search) and it's the same everywhere.

yep no doubt about that.
Was actually doing a special search only having marked 'Templates' Forum and got results from about every other forum on the board.
Then decided to pour out rest of the coffee
