Guys,
I'm wondering if you've installed the Akismet plugin for SMF as we're running SMF..

My suggestion would be to extend the SMF plugin to include personal messages (if at all possible). PMs still remain UGC as much as forum posts.

Not a bad suggestion. I have seen this plugin in the past, but I will look at it again. I'd say our mods and community notice and report 99.9% of spam on our forum though. Truly amazing to see how clean we are able to keep things really.

Re: Spammer issue - possible solution
We use Askimet on the Developer Blog where within 8 Month nearly 190.000 Spam comments where catched, but for the Forum there are a lot pros and contras as you also can read on the SMF Forum, so i guess the best way to handle this is still our great Mod Team
The "Humor, Fun and Games" forum has more than 2500 Posts, so why not build a "Humor, Fun and Games Working" Group?
