About JUGs

Post by ibnhafsun » Mon Feb 05, 2007 3:16 pm

Hi, sorry if this has been asked before. I posted this on the M&M forum

Hi, Pete, where are the docs and info about JUGs (if any)?

The existing JUGs... have signed the logo usage policy and have had the approval of OSM? have you verified their websites too?

Is there any list of available JUGs?

and here is the reply:

It's early days but regarding best practice your first port of call for guidance should be our events co-ordinator, Alex Kempkens.

All officially JUGs should adhere to the logo usage policy.

No, I don't have a list of all of the JUGs at the moment but it would be a good time to start that list.

What means "officially"?

Thanks for your time.

A first good step to be offical would be that they are in contact with the events team.

Thanks, Jinx. This post was made before this one,

http://forum.joomla.org/index.php/topic,138398.0.html

which, in my opinion, serves better for general purposes.

Feel free to close this one as we would learn a lot from the other one.

And I am not sure if my pm to akede was the first one about this forum (the forum was just opened with no posts and even no description, I sent it as soon as I saw it). May be he could tell you, may be brad has the logs. I pmed akede about an argentinian meeting, asking if this was the right place to announce and ask for help and support.

A first good step to be offical would be that they are in contact with the events team.

So, I did ;)

Hi,

PM answered, did I? I think so.

BTW: There is a post which is running in this forum about the formation of JUG's. We do not have decided if we really create official JUG's or not. Will discuss this with the events team.

Dont see how joomla user groups are anything to do with joomla events. lets not step on each others shoes.

the events people have enough to do. let those who have expressed an interest in forumalating something to do with promoting the establishment of Joomla User Groups do their thing.

A Joomla User Group is a community issue and not something that should need to be approved by anyone etc.
