[Q] Getting notified of updated extensions....
G'Day,
I see there was talk of an RSS feed for the extensions site. However what would also be really great is the ability to register an interest in certain components so that you can be notified via email when they are updated? I realise that potentially this could be done at each extenions author's site and/or by regularly browsing the RSS feed. However notifications and/or RSS feeds are not always available, and it is time consuming to read RSS daily. However if an email came in to say "Component X" is updated then that would be ideal.

Bump! Anyone?
Re: [Q] Getting notified of updated extensions....
Sounds awful... Get enough junk mail as it is, and don't particularly want emailing every time a tweak is made to an extension or listing. RSS feeds have the wonderful feature of being checked when you want to check, rather than email that forces it's way in whether you are busy or not.
Oh, and don't bump - against Joomla forums rules.

Sorry about that

But surely this is a user choice? If you don't want to get the emails then don't subscribe. :-) Yeah RSS works well if you go and check the RSS feed which is a PULL source of information. I am looking for something that will PUSH information at me. All I want to do is keep track of a few components so I don't think I will be inundated by junk.

Re: [Q] Getting notified of updated extensions....
I'd be keen on the notification, not just the updated side but any new extension listed.
Re: [Q] Getting notified of updated extensions....
A weekly summary of all new and updated extensions is available in the Joomla Weekly News which is available every friday. You can even subscribe to it for immediate notification of its release. (subscription details are on page 1)
Re: [Q] Getting notified of updated extensions....
I'd rather be able to select to be notified when a new/update is added to a particular extension that I use....
But that's just my 2 cents.

Re: [Q] Getting notified of updated extensions....
That would definitely be a nice feature, maybe it will added in a later version of JED.

It would indeed be a great feature to add to the already superb range of features that JED and its hard workingteam already provide.

While we're at it: I'd love a feed of the comments for a particular entry.
If needed I can help out with development.

Re: [Q] Getting notified of updated extensions....
A weekly summary is great, however a "as it happens" new extenstion email notification is so much better.
Something that members can subscribe to (and unsubscribe)
Maybe a breakdown such as
name of extenstion
category
brief description
author etc tec
---
It would also be good to have a filter system, where extenstions can be sorted by status, author, commericial/GNU etc
- maybe some one has an extenstion for that already.
