Haven't Rochen and Brad contributed their fair share, yet? Thanks again guys!

It will be great to see the new design, too.

A lot of man hours have been put into designing the backend infrastructure for the new Forge making current robustness and future scalability our primary concerns. What I am most impressed with though is what Andy has done with the new theme - it really does look great.

Okay I am teasing now... but seriously this is a very exciting step forward for the Joomla community and something I think everyone will be over the moon about when launched. Until it comes out of the test labs then... I can't say anymore.

:D

As Louis says, a tremendous job is done atm to get this one working (indeed compliments for those who really do a great job). The current forge was getting so slow, actually slowing down development till we came to a full stop. We first will get this baby born, and after that we will move to Warp 9.9 to get the beta-2 out.
Don't complain, help out

Very grateful for your hard work. I know you guys had to deal with some unpleasant comments from Joomla users even as you were trying to solve the problem. Thanks for getting the forge back up and working, and for coming up with a long-term solution at the same time.

Yes, but does this 'pimped ride' run Linux?  :P

I feel fortunate that I'll have less time to surf the latest scoop on my favorite celebrities while waiting for 1.5 updates and get to task on making some cool extensions.  It could even be an old-school terminal emulator, but if the new forge updates my core SVN copy in a minute instead of a half-hour, I'm psyched!

Thanks to Brad, Andy, everyone who's going to make my life less centered around celebrity gossip and more about Joomla! development.  :pop

I like the news 'cause since january I have had a lot of difficulties for viewing a single page of the forge... but guys & gals I'd like to post even another idea...

Is it possible to have 2 type of forge? Or simply 2 areas of the same forge?

1 for materials focused only for 1.5 (no backwards compatibility and max improvements by 1.5 features)
1 for every type of materials for all joomla series (backward compatibility)

For avoiding a probable mess among materials, for a better structured archive. I presume our Chris and Brad have done a very great work (as usual) and so my post is probable useless...  :-\ But what I mean is --> not to see like extensions archive with a single extension with an image for showing tested with or compatible with # version - even if you are a good search system, I think it's not "professional" to search, it's better to show.

I'd like this solution as there is NO logo such as "1.5 certified" or "only for 1.5" or "best with 1.5" and so on. Also I'd like to see materials that contains all improvements by 1.5 without any limit by 1.0.x series.

I think a separate but collaborative forge, a distinct and easily searching materils in the forge, will be surely a good PLUS for all of us.  :)

But I repeat I consider this post only a simple suggestion and before "the show", so please if I'm wrong... I'd be very happy

Yes, we are running the latest build of CentOS Enterprise Linux in 64-Bit mode :)

We have found CentOS to be the best distro and have standardized on this across our fleet. It gives us more flexibility and cost savings than a straight RHEL install but we don't have the problems of a short EOL that say Fedora has, which I would never use on a production server.

I just wish I spoke the same language as you guys.  My dictionary has 'pimping' as something to do with prostitution.  If Joomla! is just for people under 20, or people in the sex industry, then I guess I'll have to take my (Church) sites elsewhere.

In both English and America, the term is nowadays used more in the context of 'making things more beautiful/stylish/flashy'. Can't say there is a direct Dutch translation. Joomla! isn't meant for any particular group of people. The goal is to create software for all people, race/age/religion doesn't matter. It's for all people. When looking at the forum rules, you can see we specifically have rules against sexually excplicit things on the forum, for example. If we have insulted you, I'm very sorry about this. This was, and never is, our intention to do with anybody.

From wikipedia

"Pimp can also be used as a verb such as "You're pimped up!" or "Pimp my ride." The latter example refers to customizing an automobile, made popular by the show Pimp My Ride on MTV. It can also be used as an adjective connoting the same, i.e. "Man, that car's pimp!" Either use was originally a derogatory term, implying that the subject was overly decorated and tacky (referring to the stereotype of pimps with excessive jewelry, flashy clothes, or brightly colored cars with animal-print upholstery and crystal chandeliers). It was eventually reclaimed as an American slang term for being unique, "cool" or socially desirable, in much the same way as the term "ghetto fabulous".

OK, but this is very American Idiom and also very Youth Culture.  I would have thought that the Joomla! project would prefer to stay neutral to these things - if only for those for whom English or American isn't Language-1.

And I wasn't offended, just mystified as to what it meant. ???
