Wierd caching issue?

Post by brian » Thu Mar 15, 2007 6:36 pm

is joomlacode operating on multiple loadbalanced servers?

I've been trying to setup wikis and news etc for a few projects and its just wierd.

EG I created a news item for the joomlademocd project and it took ages to appear on the front page

I added file releases to the project joomlasites using the admin tab. On submit it appears strait away on the list of tabs BUT as soon as I click on the summary tab the files tab has gone again.

Having the same issues setting up wikis as well. One mnute the content is there and saved. the next minute there is no record of a wiki even existing

I'm doing up a blog post on the hardware setup now. However, just to explain briefly, news does not hit the frontpage automatically, it is all approved manually first.

Your other issues.. I will try to explain in blog post, but I think there are related to how Gforge AS works. Remember, we're all doing our best to get this beast up and running smoothly, expect issues along the way.

Thanks for your patience.

Sorry I didnt meant the news on the site frontpage I meant the project page.

I do fully appreciate that its a big task to get everything up and running. "Many eyes make bugs shallow" Eric Raymond

Brian

Some of the news delay on the front page was me, I delayed releasing "other" news for a day or so, whilst we kicked off, then released a heap at once.

As Brad said, many project based items are built/setup based on regular crontab cycles, so it may take upto a few hours for you to see the results of some of your actions.

I'm not talking about site frontpage news.

Please just go to your test account and try to add a wiki or create some news for the frontpage. I'm sure you will see what I mean.

BTW you need to delete or change the password on the testuser account

Brian can you explain a little more, I just created a news item in one of my projects, it showed up instantaneously on my own project site and within 2-3 minutes on the jcode news for approval.

News is/was a minor issue. Can you try adding a wiki using the admin tab. It appears on the tabs as soon as you submit on the admin page but click elsewhere and its gone again.

Hi,

I'm experiencing the same issue. When I'm logged in as an administrator I have to force a page refresh (F5) to see changes (like new features...Wiki, Forum... added to the project).

The crazy thing is that I'm logged in using Firefox; now when I open the same page in a fresh Internet Explorer (with which I didn't even visit joomlacode.org before) and try to view the page as if I would NOT be logged in, it shows the same page - with all administrator functions - without asking to log in! It even shows "Logged in as Soeren...." on the top. Just a page refresh brings the "real" page. This is really a weird caching behaviour.

btw: Editing the Wiki Frontpage doesn't work for me. I'm not allowed to change the wiki Frontpage of my own projects. Is that a known issue?

I was beginning to think it was just me.

Is the Wiki still a problem guys? If so, let me know and I will endeavor to look in to it further.

It works for me now, but still needs a page refresh.
This won't be a problem for other users, because they probably don't have a cached version of this page in their browser.

btw: What happened to my topic about the Tabs in the Joomla 15 Gforge Theme? It's not obviously visible that they are actually tabs.
