Hi,
I need to check who might be able to help you. What I can try is to send you some banners and other PR material we have.
Do you know if there is a free of cost booth available for OS projects? If you like me to apply for such a booth let me know.
I'll back about it
Alex

Great news. Is this a booth or a speaking slot?

Both Brian,
I think the primary help Franck would need are people supporting him and his team on the booth. He will do the presentations. I will compile something and send it to you to have a look on it.

Hi,
Franck is a quite long term community member from Spain. Within his own company he is using Joomla! already for a while and always provided us with feedback. Franck is based in Spain and as the LinuxWorld is a fair he is attending as well he suggested to organize a booth for Joomla! too.
He did excellent and Joomla! got not only a booth but a speakers slot too. Unfortunately the work group and core team is traveling a lot at this time and we are not able to send someone that's why we asked Franck to represent Joomla! on the sessions.
I personally know from the exhibition Systems last autumn that those events are very interesting specially to community members from the local area - that's why I would love to see some people from Spain picking up this thread.
All the best
Alex

Re: Linux World Madrid - 18/19 April 2007
The last 18/19 of April in Madrid took place the 2007 Madrid Linux World Event. During this seminar, I have been honoured to represent the Joomla project during a presentation slot of 20 minutes.
The audience of the Linux World Event of Madrid was:
1. Very limited – I would say around 100 attendees max
2. Business focus MNC or Public Administration – IT directors/coordinators
3. It was a seminar (sessions) much more than a trade fair, but some booth were made available to attend visitors when there was no sessions
4. Most of the presentations were very much oriented to desktop/OS/ servers open source solution / migration - not so much to open source application. Actually Joomla was the only representative of Open Source Application Software
Alex, Johan & Peter did provide me an excellent support previous to the event, and I basically only had to translate the presentation and make sure I understood well the different slides. I was a bit nervous just before the presentation, because some material was new to me, and even if I live in Spain for 7 years now, I am from France, so presenting in your non native language is always a bit more difficult. I presented first some recent information about the Joomla project & then some success stories, with a special focus to the United Nations projects. I have to thank Philippe Chabot & Nenad Vasic (from the UN), Igor Dutra & Peter Russel for their help in gathering such valuable information.
I had standard questions like 1.5 in production use, how upgrade works, where to start with, etc…Overall I had the feeling that the presentation had been fine. Maybe because I was dressed with a suit & tie (it could be a nº1 in the world) – an executive representative of Joomla!!!
I have just received the feedback results of the organizers of the event. Here you go:
Joomla presentation:
- Overall grade: 4.2 (5 is max)
- Content: 4.2 (5 is max)
- Style/Presentation: 4.2 (5 is max)
The average grade for the presentation is 3.9 over the 2 days of the event (Min 3.1; Max 4.6). Positive comments about content management & success stories
So I am please to say that we could make it together and that the audience did like it !
This is just a first step in promoting Joomla in Spain among MNC & Public Administration. We will now try to repeat local promotional/lobbying activities and get organised better to solve logistics issues. Interested people contact me via PM on the forums
