This post is half question half suggestion....
The 3rd Party Extensions section has boards for components, modules etc. These seem to be meant for the development of these extensions (is that the case?), but in reality have been drowned in support questions.
I can see there is a need for a component help forum, especially as the general help forums are really busy. But there is also a need for a component developer forum, where only coders participate, not end users. Thoughts?

Re: forum for extension developers
Can you elaborate on a clear definition for this proposed forum, as well as what kind of post we might find there?

Re: forum for extension developers
Sure. It would strictly be for developers of extensions. Sample posts would include:
- How do I limit a feature to only Administrators and Super Administrators?
- I want to include some AJAX functionality, does Joomla provide a library for that?
- I'm having XXX problem with MosTabs.
- How do I override the pathway?
Etc. Developers could find the help they need and we could use it to promote best practices, hopefully raising the security level of the average extensions at the same time...

Why does this have to be in a private forum?
I know the current setup doesn't really allow this, but I have some ideas for after the forum changes in this regard (later this year).

I didn't suggest a private forum, sorry if there was a misunderstanding there. Perhaps you read in to that from when I said "strictly for developers"? I mean that's what the description of the forum would be: "for developers", meaning third party developers. In other words, post here if you are a coder, not a user. Does that make more sense?

Re: forum for extension developers
Ok, slight misunderstanding . I've been talking with a few people about a developer section as well in the last month. We will try to create something like this in the new structure.
