J! Demo Site

Post by unixboymd » Wed Apr 25, 2007 1:11 am

On the J! demo site it states
NOTE: This demo site will be refreshed every 60 mins with a default Joomla install. To access the Backend Administrative area you will need to 'Register' from the link on the left and follow the directions.

But there is no link to register. So backend access is disabled.

Was this an oversight? Or was the registration link removed? If it was removed then the site should be modified to state that fact.

From the main joomla.org site if you click on demo you get that link.  You wouldn't typically get to the page you are referring to without having to go through the page listed on the main site (the one referenced above)

Ok I must be totally blind or stupid today. I could have sworn that the login box / register link wasn't there when I posted.

It was probably just me. This week I don't even know which way is up.

There is no box for registration now.

You should consider locking down the box, as my line manager wanted to show the demo to her boss, and couldn't get in.  It was embarrassing for her.

There is a registration box.  Down on the lower left hand side.  Instead of Logging in click on register instead.

Following the link posted above - clicking through from the main Help Site opens the home page of the demo site and the registration displays as below.

If it is not there when you get there it is because someone has unpublished it.

Add the following after the http://demo.joomla.org/index.php?option=com_registration&task=register

This will call up the screen necessary.

Andy
