extension versions

extension versions
I have a quick question. Are the module versions listed in Extensions the only versions that will work with Joomla? The reason I ask is that I noticed on the module author's site that a more recent version is available than the version in the Joomla Extensions. Would the newer version work or is the version in Extensions specifically customized for Joomla?

Hi nanunanu,
Actually its the developers themselves that maintain the listing info.
So if a newer version is present at their site, then they probably forgot to update their listing in Joomla! Extensions Directory.
Policy is that extensions listed should always be compatible with latest stable release of Joomla!
