Help Sites Offline

Post by humvee » Fri Jun 15, 2007 3:32 pm

Hi,

I have had a report that the Workshop site was offline and now notice that the whole Help Site is unavailable.

Could someone look into this please

Thx

Andy

Edit S&I are aware of this and other sites too :)

Hi Andy,

It is due to a huge volume of traffic (1,000+ concurrent Apache sessions) hitting the "Open Source Does Matter" article. Most of it is coming from Digg. We are working to balance the traffic load as best we can. The forum and extensions sites are on a separate server so they should be okay.

There's back up at the moment. The sites are getting loads of traffic to endure at the moment.

Guess that's only part of the storm that will need riding out... btw, why is there no Discuss thread for the announcement, as for the others? The "thread of death", as it is known now, is getting a bit (too) long imho...

It's probably better to have it in one thread. With the amount of posting going on now, it's hard enough to follow all without getting lost. If there are several topics, it will become even harder to follow the general discussion.

The thread is now locked, and there are several others opened in the Lounge instead.. (weird choice imho).
Maybe update the announcement then..?
