Joomla.org --What extensions are used?

Post by atomino » Fri Jul 13, 2007 11:56 am

I have started looking into Joomla and find it great. My question is more towards somebody who knows the joomla website: Are all the features you are using on your website out of the Joomla box or are you using additional components etc to achieve all this functionality (excluding design templates)? Cheers!

[nathandiehl mod edit] I changed the subject to something helpful. The old title was very misleading!

Re: Joomla! Do i need extensions?

the answer depends completely on what you're trying to achieve.

The power of Joomla! is that you can add what you need.

On some of my sites, i am using extensions such as OpenSEF, Community Builder, ReadMore bot, JoomlaXplorer, SWMenu..lots of different things.

check out the extensions at: http://extensions.joomla.org

I understand the concept of the extensions. In my case, probably what I can see on the joomla.org site is already ok for me - at least as a starting point. And for this reason I asked if what is implemented on the joomla.org site comes out of the installation or are you using 3rd party extensions to achieve this functionality at the frontend (this means, I am not querying your backend tools, e.g. for backup etc). P.S. Changing the title is ok - no problems.

sorry i misunderstood your question.
This question was posted in the wrong forum, then, which is why i misunderstood. I will move it to Sites & Infrastructure. those guys are more in the know.

the menu items you see at joomla.org are actually pointing to several different installs.
forum.joomla.org is actually a stand-along SMF install, and is not joomla at all.
extensions.joomla.org is using mostree
a wordpress compoenent is used to manage the core blogs

that's all i know about at the moment.

Many thanks! I had a look and Mosets Tree is probably the most important component for me.
