Cannot Send PMs in forum

I apologize if this is the wrong place, but I looked and looked and could not find anywhere else to post a help question about the joomla forums. 

I received a PM from a member and attempted to reply only to receive a message that I am not authorized to send PMs.  How do I rectify this situation?  ANY help is greatly appreciated

David, the pm system is set up so that only members who have 5 or more posts can send/reply to pm's.  This was done in an effort to reduce/eliminate pm spamming in the forums. 

One more post and you can send pm's
