Thank you for your interest.

A donation button will be put in place once we have the proper accounting infrastructure in place to handle donations prudently, correctly and transparently - which will hopefully be soon.

Hi guys,

This is a really healthy sign. People keen to donate. In short, yes we will be implementing ways for your donations to be accepted and properly managed to benefit the project and the community.

To explain the delay I need to point to the logistics involved in setting up Joomla! Firstly we very rapidly found ourselves needing a new home, find resources and implement structure. Inclusive in this is legal and organisation structure and, of course, a bank account.

All of the pieces are coming together and we will soon be able to accept donations. I'll let you know where and when soon.

Thanks again.

There are a considerable number of developers have had made a little money from the Joomla project. It isn't unreasonable to ask for a little something back, even for the non-profits that have just saved thousands in licensing fees. Even if it isn't much, I'm sure it would be good affirmation for the core team to know that their work has not gone unnoticed. Open the wallets! :)

Lets keep the wallets closed for just a little bit longer. We need to ensure that we have a good (and open) system in place first. We are working on this right now and hope to have it ready in a few weeks time

Brian,

Is there any chance the structure will include 501(c)(3) donations?

Wow, this really tels a lot about the priorities of the core team...
Anybody else might have tried to cash in the momentum. But not these guys.
First the code & community and worry about fundings later. Respect to the core team!
I'm ever more proud to be a (very small) part of this community.

Keep up the good work guys!
(Oh, and get this donate-thing up & running fast, this project deserves some funding.)

This is the intention however it should be clear that the process involved in getting 501(c) status is very long and involved.
